What type of buses are scheduled on them?

Re: Timetable Changes 2025
Doubt it'll be artics, considering the Euro III B12BLEAs don't seem to have been repaired yet.
A wild suggestion, but perhaps they just put the wrong route in the header. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case.

Re: Timetable Changes 2025
The 180X is possibly one of those routes that went 100% rigid when the Custom bodied B12BLEAs were withdrawn. Increased capacity may be achieved by redeploying Volgren bodied B12BLEAs on some services.

Re: Timetable Changes 2025
This metro car park is full by 7.13am. Now, Sydney commuters might have a better option
Commuters in the city’s north-west are set for a reprieve from clogged parking lots and poor transport connections to metro stations.
Following a months-long community campaign of complaints and feedback, Transport for NSW will shift to a more frequent timetable with extended bus routes for services around stations at the end of the north-west metro line.
For much of 2024, locals around Tallawong, Box Hill, Schofields and North Kellyville complained about a chronic lack of bus services connecting to metro stations, forcing them to walk on roads, order costly Ubers or drive into commuter car parks that get full by the early hours.
But from January 19, many routes – including the 732, 740, 742, 745, 746, 747 and 748 – will become more frequent, and additional buses for use during peak times will be deployed on the 601, 605 and 643 routes.
Adrian Dessanti, the director of public transport at the agency, said locals’ outspoken feedback about the lack of services contributed to the change, along with patronage and housing development data.
“We do use qualitative feedback,” he said, saying people had been writing in letters and sending the agency other feedback about the services. “It’s not just about using Opal data – that records who currently catches the bus.”
The changes to the north-west routes – part of the state government’s push to improve bus services across the city – are one of several changes being progressively made. Inner west bus services moved to a new timetable in December, and smaller changes will be made from January in south-east Sydney and the northern beaches, including improved frequency on the B1 line.
New buses for new areas
Communities in the area had partly been deprived of services because the suburbs were so new. Melonba, a new suburb in the Blacktown local area, was built on old farmland and had virtually no access to public transport despite the Tallawong metro station being a 15-minute drive away.
The 748 route, which currently travels from neighbouring Marsden Park to Rouse Hill metro station, will now go between the new suburb and Tallawong.
Warren Kirby, the state Labor member, said the route’s extension “will mean 5500 people will be able to travel to Tallawong metro station without needing to find a park”.
The changes mean some on-demand buses, which had been used to connect people to transport routes, will be discontinued.
The specialist leading the changes, Anthony Boston, said those on-demand routes filled “gaps in the network where demand is too low to provide a decent bus service”. But now, patronage was too high.
“People have got used to using public transport … and now they’re reaching the numbers that are exceeding what we can carry on small buses,” Boston said.
“Now that you’ve got so much residential growth and so many more people there, on-demand has got to the nexus point.”
Boston said the changes were not set in stone but needed “to be tended to like a garden”.

Could be a case of waiting for the upgraded services to be introduced first before winding down the on-demand bus, given that was operated by Busways separately as such.iamthouth wrote: Fri Jan 17, 2025 3:21 pm I wonder what the changes to the On-Demand buses are? There is no mention of that on

Given the bus routes marked on the map in the service area (https://transportnsw.info/travel-info/w ... nd-service), all of them seem to be getting service upgrades so maybe less need for the on-demand bus?

Some changes are being made to school services north of Maitland. Of note, some school links will now be switched between CDC NSW and Grace Coaches, operating on different ticketing systems:
Of note for one of the smaller operators, Grace Coaches also offer PDF route maps and timings on their website: https://www.gracecoaches.com.au/school-services

(I think they've been rebranded to CDC NSW now, but interesting to see TfNSW referencing Hunter Valley Buses.)The school bus you travel on may be a CDC bus (operated by Hunter Valley Buses) or a Grace Coaches bus. If it is a CDC bus, you will need an Opal card. If it is a Grace Coaches bus, you will need a school travel pass.

Re: Timetable Changes 2025
The CCN replacement buses only operated as far as Gordon.
15CN Newcastle Interchange, Hamilton, Broadmeadow, Cardiff, Berowra, Hornsby then Gordon and return
16CN Newcastle Interchange, Hamilton, Broadmeadow, Cardiff, Fassifern, Morisset, Wyong, Tuggerah,
Berowra, Hornsby then Gordon and return
17CN Wyong, then all stations to Gosford, Berowra, Hornsby then Gordon and return
18CN Woy Woy, Koolewong, Tascott, Point Clare, Berowra, Hornsby then Gordon and return
It would be much better if they can proceed as far as Chatswood (connecting with metro) or at least Lindfield (with extra trains).

Re: Timetable Changes 2025
Gotdon has an interchange that can better handle terminating services, Lindfield only has a single stop on each side of the Pacific Highway and Chatswood gridlocks too easily.

Re: Timetable Changes 2025
Chatswood took up a substantial number of trackwork buses during various trackwork configurations in the past. I am sure that it has the capacity to accommodate CCN replacement buses if TfNSW is willing to operate them.Linto63 wrote: Mon Feb 10, 2025 10:02 am Gotdon has an interchange that can better handle terminating services, Lindfield only has a single stop on each side of the Pacific Highway and Chatswood gridlocks too easily.
Re: Timetable Changes 2025
The aim is to minimise the distance rail replacement buses travel, not increase it unnecessarily, extending services to Chatswood would have made no sense.

This is exactly the mentality to put operational convenience ahead of passengers' need.Linto63 wrote: Tue Feb 11, 2025 6:42 am The aim is to minimise the distance rail replacement buses travel, not increase it unnecessarily, extending services to Chatswood would have made no sense.
CCN replacement buses had historically served Chatswood for good reason. Chatswood is a far more useful destination and interchange for passengers.
Re: Timetable Changes 2025
Central Coast buses historically operated through to Central which was a waste of resources, hence they now normally only operate to Hornsby, unless as was the case last weekend, the North Shore line too is out of action. Gordon is also an easier interchange than Chatswood, being one instead of two flights of stairs and a shorter walk.

The connection to metro would outweigh any extra stairs, not to mention that Chatswood has escalators.Linto63 wrote: Wed Feb 12, 2025 4:35 pm Central Coast buses historically operated through to Central which was a waste of resources, hence they now normally only operate to Hornsby, unless as was the case last weekend, the North Shore line too is out of action. Re: Timetable Changes 2025
Is there any reason that the 309 doesn't start adjacent to Redfern station Gibbons St Stand B rather than a block away at Regent St Stand C?

Re: Timetable Changes 2025
309 isn't a loop route, and given the 310 [peak service] still continues to Railway Square from Gibbon St [the 309 terminates there], having that as the starting point for the 309 would be rather confusing.Geo101 wrote: Tue Feb 18, 2025 4:24 pm Is there any reason that the 309 doesn't start adjacent to Redfern station Gibbons St Stand B rather than a block away at Regent St Stand C?
The current setup is how I remember it being since I first worked out at Banksmeadow and having to walk to Regent St to either get the 309 or L09 bus - the L09 starting from that stop at Regent St and being an express to the stop after Botany/Gardeners Road, stopping at Green Square only I believe.
I'd imagine consistency, and potentially some logistics issues would make "starting" the 309 on Gibbons St quite confusing given the other parallel routes (like the 310 and even the 306 to a degree).

Re: Timetable Changes 2025
As already mentioned in the bus observations:
As posted on some bus stops.Service changes are affecting some routes, from 3 March.
Timetables are changing, affecting some bus routes across South East Sydney.
New trial Route 393 will operate between Matraville, Bunnerong Road at Moorina Avenue and Westfield Eastgardens, during weekdays off-peak period and Saturdays.

Interesting new trial route to serve a small section of Bunnerong Road.trackless tram wrote: Tue Feb 18, 2025 10:43 pm As already mentioned in the bus observations:

Prior to the 2021 (L2/L3 network reorganisation) changes, wouldn't the section of Bunnerong Road between Franklin St & Canara Ave (highlighted in blue) have been served by the then not-very-frequent 391 services that operated to La Perouse? I'm guessing that entire section, including Phillip Bay near La Perouse PS, lost all bus services?

Changes in Regions 4 (CDC NSW), 7 (Busways) & 9 (Transdev John Holland) from 3rd March. In addition to the aforementioned Route 393 and general timetable changes, route alterations are:
- 500N streamlined via Victoria Rd, West Ryde
- 533 adjusted at Rhodes Station
- 600 shortened to Parramatta—Pennant Hills
- 590 (new route) replaces 600 between Pennant Hills & Hornsby
- 620X shortened to James Henty Dr, Dural
- 712 withdrawn (Westmead—Parramatta)

Correct re: 391. Bunnerong Rd between Franklin St and Military Rd is still serviced by Route 309 today (Redfern—Port Botany). Plenty more details in the PDFs on these Bus Changes pages on the corporate site.
Biggest changes not already mentioned:
* No more short Matraville - Redfern trips for Route 309. All trips now ply the entire length of the route from Port Botany Depot to Redfern.
* 610X and 611 getting some extra services
----
The changes to Route 533 are very much already in place due to roadworks in Gauthorpe St. Olympic Park bound services are already heading straight along Walker St and have been using Stand D since late January.
Plus with the 526 now being so frequent, it's been causing congestion along Stand C (Walker St northbound) quite badly. Slow service (526) passengers can now use Stand C exclusively, whilst those needing a faster service that bypasses the wharf can wait at Stand D
Re: Timetable Changes 2025
Sadly with some of the new bus stop signage, quite a lot of it has already become outdated, e.g. on Underwood Road Homebush as Route 525 no longer operated past Olympic Park and 526 has also since been shortened to Strathfield. Route 525 has been taped over using masking tape, whilst Route 526 is still shown on the signage as heading to Burwood.
(Meaning the DFO bus stop towards Strathfield is all full of outdated route information)
