Transport for Brisbane Observations 2023

Post by daveeyh »

New thread for the new year.

Looking forward to the new South Brisbane loop Route 86 commencing on 23 January 2023 - wondering if there will be a special wrap for the buses on this loop like the purple City Loop buses (6001-6004) and yellow Spring Hill Loop buses (1065, 1066).

I note on the Translink website, disruption to some Inala services:

Route 100, 110 and N100 disruptions

We've been advised the following disruptions to routes 100, 110 and N100 may be in place from 6.30pm on Friday 20 January until further notice for safety reasons.

Yes, I read from RTBU that they have done it due to concerns over driver safety. Many drivers are boycotting 100/110 because of frequent assaults in the area. Many attempts with security guards and mobile units but unfortunately no conclusion was reached.

Also I've heard from drivers that Yutongs will soon be employed on 30 Spring Hill and 86 South Brisbane loops. Purple CityLoop livery seems to be ambigious between the loops, interesting to see if they will order more Yutongs

1218 parked outside Toowong workshops stripped on Tuesday. Looks about to be withdrawn. Wonder if it’s been there for a while? Anyways it’s the first withdrawal in a while if it is

Last time I saw 1218 in service was in June 2021 so I assume it has been used for parts since then.

A TfB B12BLE (unknown fleet number) has caught fire on the Captain Cook Bridge. Luckily, emergency services arrived quickly to extinguish the flames and take the driver to hospital; but I wonder what will be the fate for the unlucky tag.

I think that's a premature conclusion.

There are 2 Volvo Electric Charging ports ready on lanes at Eagle Farm, expecting delivery soon.

Eagle farm will take over all 30 loops.

40 City Loop trial will conclude soon, I wonder what the result of that will be. I believe Toowong is to become all diesel so I'm not sure if they will buy some last new diesel buses for T or transfer from somewhere else? Interesting

Maroon Glider buses having a breakout this morning - within a minute, I saw C2047 on a City-Valley 204 service and C2044 on a Carindale 202 service in Adealide Street.
Very rare to see Maroon Glider buses on routes other than the 61.

Be nice if they'd at least have a go with one of the other offerings (BZL, CD Element, even a Bustech) rather than Yutongs...

There's a social media post cited further up the thread that confirms at least E will be getting Volvo BZLs.

One of Eagle Farm's promised Volvo BZLs has arrived according to a now-deleted post, with fleet number E1596. I do have a screenshot of it that I can upload if need be.

Edit: In light of there being an unnumbered Yutong spotted, I'm retracting this until we get more evidence as to what E1596 is.
