Welcome to the Grand 2023.

I thought I'd merge all the bus observations into a single thread this year.

Spotted what appeared to be a new Dysons Fuso Rosa No. 1306 in Wodonga, unfortunately, I could not get the rego.

Looks like a CDC Endura has been involved in a crash with a B-double on the Princes Fwy in Hoppers.

Today I saw a Dysons Mercedes bus running out for a train replacement service in Greensborough. It looked old but I don't think the original Dysons, Reservoir or BBC had it. I didn't get a chance to see if it was high floor, but it looked similar to the Mercedes high floor bus used by National's Doncaster Depot, which were used mainly on suburban routes and occationally on City routes. Did Dysons acquire them from National? Or where did those National Mercedes buses go? Thanks.

A lot of ex-Transdev buses are on rail duties these days, although I haven't seen many high floor buses, mostly first-gen low floors. Also a lot of ex-Ventura group CR221Ls. When the Lilydale/Mooroolbark works were on there was a Custom 550 Merc running rail replacement, I had a photo of it but my memory card corrupted itself (also lost a pic of ex-Ventura Leyland Tiger 30, which is now a pink-coloured party bus). Yesterday at Ringwood Maccas I saw a "square" Designline MAN in Sunshine livery also running rail replacement along with a CR222L in a coffee-coloured livery (Sita?). Also seen a few CB30s on rail replacement over the past couple of years.

Looks like Ventura might be installing PIDs in their buses. Rode 1262 yesterday on the 742 and it was announcing the stops in a unique voice (not the SmartBus voiceover). There is no next stop display however, just the announcements.

Ventura Ivanhoe also have those, as I noticed on route 527. They announce both the intersecting road and the road the bus is on, and for the latter, it actually spells out "R D", "S T"... You normally don't even need to include the road the bus is on unless the stop is near a turn and the bus follows both roads for multiple stops.

Every 40 minutes on Sundays. Why hasn't PTV realised that the only difference between Saturday and Sunday is the name of the day?

Kinetic bus 8607 has lost its silver and is now in PTV livery.
Also a few of the buses in the Kinetic fleet over the last few months have received new destination displays from Hanover (935 and 950 have a full new set of white LED displays) or BUSE (943 front unit only)

There'd be a few buses getting new destos. many of the buses getting new destos would be getting the old flipdots replaced.
I know 8296 has kept its LED desto. has 8607 gotten a new desto or did it keep its LED desto?

Bus 8296 and 8607 are Volvos that were factory fitted with LED displays so no change beside the livery.
8903 on the other had a flip dot replaced by a LED unit. Most getting replaced; 935, 943, 946 and 950 are due to faulty "bustec" LED displays.

Randomly spotted Dysons 151 (CR222L) parked in suburbia in Ringwood yesterday. Apparently there were no parking spaces near the station during the rail replacement works so the driver had to find a side street and ended up half way down Bond St where the 742 normally runs. Unfortunately I couldn't snap a 742 alongside it as the latter runs to rural frequencies even at 5PM.

a bus has crashed through fences and then into a home in Victoria, Mornington Penisula. Bus involved belongs to Ventura, suspecting to be Fleet No 1059.

According to the Ventura fleet lists, there seems to have been a mass transfer of Mercedes 0500LE's from Moorabbin and Dandenong depots to Pakenham, with the displaced B7RLE's moving to Moorabbin and Dandenong depots.

There is a large batch of Scania K320C/Volgren Optimus delivered which I have not observed in service as yet, these are the first of the new generation Scania chassis for Ventura.

Bus fully engulfed in flames on the West Gate bridge seen on facebook. It's a CR288L. Looks to be a Kinetic bus.

It is a Kinetic CR228L; looks like a K230UB. It was on a 232.

EDIT: One of the passengers has posted about it on reddit.

I can't believe I wasted a minute or two of my life actually scrolling through that.
