I assume we'll hear about it all in due course, although if anyone feels like doing a closer investigation of the other changes, that would be well-received by at least one person!

Thanks Traklink for the earlier summary of train replacement services. It seems they have definitely erred on the side of over-servicing to begin with, so I wonder how the services will evolve over the 18 month (or more!) shutdown?

With new timetable loaded, routes 30 and 31 now travelling via Milligan St instead of William St. Route 34 keeps the same alignment.

Thanks for typing all that up Off the Rails :) A couple of changes I would add:
  • There are stand changes at Vic Park Transfer Station affecting everything that travels through there, including changing from letters to numbers
  • Route 523 has a few extra outbound trips around school finishing time, while the last Saturday evening inbound 527 trip has been dropped.
Otherwise here's my promised deep dive into what I presume are the touted "five enhanced bus routes":

Route 38
This will see a small number of extra trips to help those in the Carlisle area - but are also helpful for those further away from the Armadale Line
  • One additional early morning trip at 5:04am ex-Cloverdale
  • Two additional afternoon trips ex-Cloverdale, extending the 15-minute frequency later into the afternoon
Route 39
This route will see a substantial upgrade to help those living east of Carlisle and Oats Street stations, who are affected by the decision to run route 908 direct along Shepperton Road. However the improvements extend all the way to Cloverdale and Redcliffe, and some appear to be of little use as an Armadale Line replacement, so hopefully there's some planning for the future?
  • Morning peak shortworkings from Belmont to Perth will become full length, as will the weeknight short trips from Redcliffe to Belmont
  • Weekday off-peak and Saturday daytime frequencies will be doubled to every 15 minutes
  • Afternoon peak frequency will be increased from 10 minutes to every 7-8 minutes, and there will be additional trips in both the morning and afternoon peak shoulder period
  • Weeknight and Saturday evening/night frequencies will double to every 30 minutes
  • Two additional Sunday evening trips each direction, plus an earlier morning Sunday trip to Perth
Route 206
Will see substantial improvements, mostly between Cannington and Thornlie to replace this section of the Thornlie Line, however there are improvements to night services all the way to Murdoch. Overall services aren't as frequent as the train - however route 930 provides a better service to several destinations anyway.
  • Additional short trips between Cannington and Thornlie, providing earlier morning services, improving evening frequencies and doubling the weekend frequency to every 30 minutes
  • Most trips currently commencing or terminating at Thornlie will now extend to Cannington
  • Later weeknight and Saturday night trips from Cannington
  • A new Sunday night service, finishing around 10:30pm
Route 220
New routes 221 and 907 will clearly do the heavy lifting when replacing the Armadale Line, however there are also some minor improvements to their all-stops equivalent.
  • Afternoon peak frequency improved/reinstated to every 20 minutes
  • Will run a later afternoon trip to Perth
  • The last trip of the day will extend the full length to Armadale
  • Sunday frequency will double to every hour
Route 930
This route will be the main service to Thornlie during the shutdown and will see some improvements to cope - mainly at peak times and in the evening. Of particular note, there will be additional night services running well after the 11:47pm departure of the last Thornlie train - so surely these will be permanent?
  • Services will start earlier in the morning in both directions, Monday to Saturday
  • Peak frequency will increase to every 4 minutes, with wider shoulders in the morning
  • The weekday daytime 10 minute frequency will cover more of the contra-peak periods, and the evening 15 minute frequency will run later into the night
  • Weekend night services will run every 30 minutes until last services, no longer dropping to every 60 or 75 minutes
  • Night services will run slightly later throughout the week
And one last thing:

Armadale Line (or what's left of it)
The temporary train timetable is evidently based on the combined frequency of the Armadale and Thornlie lines, which in itself is a huge improvement at Burswood and Victoria Park (doubling to every 7-8 minutes during the day). Overall, the number of trains has been reduced at peak times (from 10-12 trains per hour down to 8 ), but there have been improvements at other times. As with many of the bus enhancements, I wonder how much of this will persist once the line reopens.
  • There are a number of earlier morning trains from Perth to Victoria Park throughout the week, but strangely with no corresponding improvement to services into Perth
  • For outbound services, the evening halving of frequency will take place an hour later at 8pm
  • The 7-8 minute frequency now starts at 6am on Saturdays, instead of running at half-frequency until after 8am
  • The Sunday frequency has improved from 6 trains per hour to 8 - meaning that all lines now have consistent off-peak services 7 days per week

Timetable 111 Before/After: 1x school deviation trip on a 291 to Midland in the morning, and to Redcliffe in the afternoon. (This timetable doesn't show the 292 on the website for some reason.)

Cheers!
The online timetable link for route 292 is not available from the timetable view is because they've haven't added to add the route ID [PAT-KAL-4154] to the associated timetable since the operator changeover from end-June (same time when time/route changes back when Lakelands Station opens).

I've been waiting for a very long time to see if anything could outperform the OG high frequency route 950 and ohhhh my goodness, the 907/908 & Perth-Vic Park train schedules leave 'er in the dust!

As a point of comparison to the Armadale line shutdown, I found this in a 1980 issue of Electric Traction regarding the "permanent" Fremantle Line replacement route 760:
Electric Traction, January 1980 issue wrote: Basic frequencies compared to those by rail are as follows:

Code: Select all

Monday to Friday Bus Train
Start - 7.00a.m. 15 min 15/20
7.00 a.m. - 8.00 a.m. 5 min 10/15 min, both ex Fremantle
8.00 a.m. - 3.00 p.m. 15 min 20 min
3.00 p.m. - 4.30 p.m. 10 min 20 min
4.30 p.m. - 5.30 p.m. 5 min 10 min, both ex Perth
5.30 p.m. - Finish 20/50 min	35/45 min
Saturday
Start - 8.00 a.m. 20 min 20/15 min
8.00 a.m. - 2.00 p.m. 15 min 30 min
2.00 p.m. - Finish 20/50 min	40/50 min
Sunday
Start - 7.45 p.m. 25 min 50 min/1 hr
7.45 p.m. - Finish 50 min 50 min/1 hr.
Compared to the rail service of around 55 journeys each way between Perth and Fremantle, there are now 72 bus journeys. Scheduled journey time by rail was 35 minutes and this is the same by bus, although road traffic delays push this to 42 minutes on some peak hour journeys. Five expresses, numbered 766, to Perth in the morning and three ex Perth in the afternoon, miss six stops between Claremont and West Perth.

The route follows the railway out of Perth closely as far as Loch Street, then follows the Stirling Highway to regain the line of the railway at Cottesloe and all the way to Fremantle. The two stations not directly serviced are covered by the diversion of an existing Perth-Cottesloe bus route, with extensions to Fremantle. At the Perth end, buses proceed through the City in an eastbound direction to terminate at Wellington Square, a former trolleybus terminus.
Catch a Traklink bus and you're on the train.

I should think that will greatly help with punctuality given the well-documented woes encountered on a daily basis along William St.

By the time the Fremantle line was reopened, I understand the patronage had declined enough that the replacement bus service had been curtailed quite substantially? It does make me wonder how long the replacement Armadale line services will be sustained at their generous levels if patronage should plummet during the shutdown.

930 will always experience high demand as its prime catchment area is Albany Highway near Carousel and Bentley as well as Shepparton Road around UFCC senior campus.

Others may be withdrawn once they've served their purpose.

Two timetables have been published for the circle route changes

First is for the 08th of October link below

https://www.transperth.wa.gov.au/timeta ... 231008.pdf

And the second is for the 20th of November

https://www.transperth.wa.gov.au/timeta ... 231120.pdf

The major noticeable change between the two is the obvious removal of Oats street station and modifications to the timetable to reflect the shutdown

I do know that not alot of people used the Armadale rail replacement services off peak during the workdays when it there was back in 2016 for around two weeks.

I do think it is important to try and keep the peak services and I'm sure they'll be utilised, since Armadale Line users do get free travel for six months to entice them to use the services. Whether the services will remain properly utilised after those free six months will remain to be seen.

I'm more conscious on how congested Albany Highway & Shepperton Road will get if the services AREN'T utilised.

Route 905 is to become the Rail Replacement Route number for the remaining Armadale Line section between Perth and Victoria Park. It'll first be used during the 3 day full shutdown between the 20th and 22nd of November.

Cheers!
Officially the last person to tag off the 381 - 20/5/16.
Second last person to tag off the last timetabled 16 - 23/08/19.
Last person to tag off a Transdev Joondalup service - 19/1/20.

Bus Suggestions wrote: Mon Aug 21, 2023 11:03 am A new flyer for changes to Optus Stadium services has been released. Nothing unknown, but there's a useful little map now.
Looks like this has been revised since the first publication. Now there's an additional route 660 that will run express from Cannington to Perth Stadium (in place of the full 651 to Armadale) if an event clashes with the weekday peak.

Has anyone found a timetable for this route?... can't see one mentioned in the disruptions, the Transperth website doesn't acknowledge existence of the 905, Google maps has it and the app does too. I guess they don't want people using it if they don't make it known.

There's no 'timetable' for it, just like any other normal rail route.
