And no trip data is available yet, and stay tuned for the next update when it's being updated on next week.
Just have a look for the data again released this Thursday, there's some interesting route data is available for now.

SCT-ROC-4144,SCT-ROC,574,,,3,,009639,FFFFFF

SCT-FRE-4157,SCT-FRE,666,,,3,,009639,FFFFFF
SCT-FRE-4158,SCT-FRE,667,,,3,,009639,FFFFFF
Looks like suspicious that the route number 294 would be coming back, also route 292 would be changing the operator again back to Path?

Also they are finalising the route data for routes 574, 577 and 585 which is coming in June this year.

And for the routes 666 and 667, they are for the High Voltage special event shuttle services.

For the route 44 (PDF), the trip data is now available, although that was marked to operated by Path, however that's not the case and from the WA data website it's clearly noted the route is not a Transperth service and it's operated by Horizons West.

Considering Horizons West is owned by Kelsian, I'm surprised Swan Transit hasn't been listed as the operator of 44.

Anyway, from what I've understood, 277, 278, 292 and 940 were temporarily managed by Midland package as Kalamunda package didn't have enough bus captains.

Perhaps because it is HW, rather than Swan, who will run the services?

Guessing it will be something associated with the eventual completion of Bayswater Station works (a new feeder).

Think outside the box a bit - Redcliffe or Belmont to Bayswater? Could be anything really, but the number suggests something in that general area. I believe in the Metrobus days, Redcliffe operated Guildford Rd services.

Something tells me Morley, Midland and Kalamunda bus packages may get farmed out as a mega package like Claremont, Marmion and Joondalup before them. The winner most likely will be anyone but TSA. Keolis-Downer seems the most likely suspect but I'm not ruling out other major industry players like Busways, CDC or Go-Ahead.

Well, now I've found out what the 294 is! It's a short route almost entirely duplicating the 293 from High Wycombe before it turns right into Grogan Rd to serve the Perth Airport industrial area and Foodbank WA. Maps below: Found through searching "Lakelands" into the Transperth website search bar, still no official service updates page yet.
I'd post any important, bus-related links I had, but they're outdated anyways.

Being a short route, perhaps the 294 will run quite frequently? On the other hand, sounds like a welfare/community service so may only be an hourly (or worse) affair. I wonder why adding a separate service was chosen over a deviation on the 293?

The map itself says 294 is just a trial route. Whether it stays in the long run is subject to patronage.

The Boud Ave section of 292 has been removed as well. No doubt to quicken the transfer time from T3/T4 to Redcliffe Station.

Service Changes Announcement

Points of Interest:
  • Introduction of new routes, plus the revision of several others, due to the opening of Lakelands Station
  • Additional trip on the 96 extended to Dog Swamp in the afternoons (departing UWA at 5:02pm)
  • 273 will already be on the receiving end of service cuts
  • 292 will undergo a route change to improve journey time
  • New (trial) route 294 will run three trips in each direction
  • 591-594, 597 and 598 services appear as though they might get some modest service improvements
  • Additional short trips (reintroduced?) on the 950 between Elizabeth Quay and UWA/QE2, as well as additional trips on Sunday evenings to push the 15min frequency out

A pity that, 7.5 months after the commencement of the airport line, the network maps page is still "being updated"

Quite ironic, that in spite of the exacting (bordering on pedantic) standards imposed on the bus contractors and their staff by Transperth/PTA, that producing and delivering a map in time for a major piece of infrastructure is no big deal at all, or so it seems.

Maybe Transperth/PTA are preparing to load them when Lakelands Station opens?

7.5 months is too long a wait IMO.

Especially when the services were known months (if not longer) in advance of the Airport line opening.

I wonder if the Network Map, and even those of the timetables, are automatically computer-generated, or if the route is plotted by hand?

I would suggest that they are hand-plotted, given that there are some road rebuilds/deviations that would have altered bus routes and roads had they been computer-mapped - one example below is on Network Map 3, where Collier Rd has been deviated due to grade-separation since 2019, but the map still shows the 955 in a straight line:
collier rd smol.jpg
If the routes were computer-plotted based on newest available dataset, 955 should have a kink in the route, even if the base map doesn't change (which is another point - the areas around Tonkin Hwy north of Guildford Rd are all out of date by about 4 years!)
I'd post any important, bus-related links I had, but they're outdated anyways.

Haha yes, if you thought 955 stopped on the doorstep of Bunnings Baysie, you're mistaken. It's a short walk from the bus stop into the commercial area.

Also, Dundas Road was broken up by the construction of HW Station but Google Maps isn't showing it properly.

It seems the Fremantle CAT is on its last legs.

The Public Transport Authority has no intention of picking up the full tab to run a free CAT bus in Fremantle, so the service is likely to end by October.

The City of Fremantle confirmed at its May 24 meeting it will discontinue its share of the funding for the free loop service to South beach, hoping the PTA would take it on in full to keep the service alive.

PTA spokesman David Hynes said a more likely scenario if the CAT ended was its share of the money would be used to bolster other transport services in the area.

“The Fremantle CAT was introduced more than 20 years ago at the request of the City of Fremantle. It has always operated under a cost-share arrangement between the City and the Public Transport Authority, which is funded by Western Australian taxpayers,” Mr Hynes said.

“Any cancellation of the service would be a decision for the City of Fremantle.

“If the City of Fremantle chooses to discontinue their support for the free service, we will seek to reallocate the PTA’s contribution to the Fremantle CAT (about 40 per cent of the cost) to other services in the area.”

Mr Hynes said the provision of a tourist service to replace the CAT bus would be “up to a private enterprise” and the implementation of regular buses in its place would defeat the purpose of a free bus service.

“All CAT services (in Perth, Joondalup and Fremantle) are fully subsidised and designed to be free of charge to users in key strategic locations. The installation of a tag-on/tag-off payment system would be completely counter to the intended aim of the CAT service, which is to provide a free transport option for commuters,” he said.

Since the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Blue CAT service — which operates on a loop along South Terrace and Marine Terrace between Fremantle train station and South beach — has been reduced from a 10-minute to a 20-minute frequency. The Red CAT service was suspended.

The PTA advised the City that a new contract for the Fremantle CAT will take effect in mid-2023 and “will involve a 30 per cent increase in costs” compared to the current contract.

That led the council to consider pulling its funding from June but last week it voted to keep the service until the the end of September, at a cost of $84,000 for the City.

The council will formally ask the PTA to continue to run and fully fund the service or replace it with normal buses.
