It looks like 2305 is the first B7 to meet a fiery and early end. If that's the case, it will join 1709, 1821, 1237, 1252, 1372, 1388, 1610, 1854 and 0109 in the afterlife.

Caught fire back in January - here's a paywalled Kalgoorlie Miner* article: Investigation launched after TransGoldfields bus catches fire|Kalgoorlie Miner.
*The Kalgoorlie Miner is of course actually under SevenWest Media, meaning it's inherited The West Australian's policy of paywalling 9 out of 10 articles on the site.

I'd post any important, bus-related links I had, but they're outdated anyways.

Ah yes, goddamn paywalls. All the juicy news gets hidden behind them.
Hope nobody was seriously hurt in the incident.

Spotted 2400 in Kalgoorlie on Saturday, I'm guessing it's the replacement

Welcome home, 2313. Kalamunda was her original base when she was brand new. It was when Path Transit just won Kalamunda package in 2012. I remember seeing 2313 on 32 and I had to do a double take to make sure I wasn't dreaming.Zidanehartono wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 11:45 pm 2313 at Kalamunda, seen at layover bay of Redcliffe Station tonight.

For those who are free this weekend, the Channel 7 Mandurah Crabfest is back after a 3 year pandemic-related hiatus. Word on the street is that a Peel-based bus operator has been choosen to operate the free event shuttle, taking over Buswest/ATG whose the previous operator for the event prior to the pandemic.
Bus 1566 - 1568 have been out for quite some time now so nothing noteworthy about it.

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2023
I spent six days in Perth, March 10-16, and observed:
A LOT of artics on the 950, especially after 5pm weekdays from the city, as you would expect.
I saw the odd artic on the 960 & 980.
I saw a very random artic on route 24... or was it 27... after 6pm on Wednesday, ex-city.
I saw the occasional artic on the Red Cat, plus regular green-and-silver Cats.
A 66 & 980 ex-city went by at the same time and I cannot believe people still utilise the 66.
Sunday night, after Ed Sheeran, it took an hour to clear the Perth platforms at Perth Stadium.
Going past Claisebrook that same evening, from the city to the Stadium, I saw some sort of green and gold vehicle maintenance train thingy...
I think it was Saturday evening I saw ex-TP 1058 roaming past along Wellington St.
Spotted artic 3308 & a few other 33xxs tool
Caught the 935 to & from Kings Park on Wednesday evening.
I did a cross-suburban ride from Bull Creek shops on the 208, which I chose because it was meant to be quicker than the 206 by 30 mins, but both buses reached Carousel at the same time, the 206 just before us, unless it was the previous service just arriving (11am from Murdoch/South St in Bull Creek).
I did NOT get to visit my old favourite haunts of Inglewood or Morley, neither did I manage to utilise the Airport Line from the city to High Wycombe and, by extension, a ride up to Kalamunda.
Because it's been ultra-difficult to score a seat on the plane from Esperance, both my outward & inward journeys were on the Transwa coaches, which these days jam one movie on after another, so you end up seeing 5 movies in 10 hours - but hey, at least they're comfortable!
See you in another 6/12 months!

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2023
High-capacity buses are deployed on Route 950 during peak hours. Route 24 also gets occasional articulated buses deployed during weekdays. Spare buses from Palmyra do perform duties on the Perth CATs, especially Route 4.esperanceguy47 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 12:32 am I spent six days in Perth, March 10-16, and observed:

A side note, if Perth had infrastructure to support the use of double deckers like Singapore and Hong Kong, 950 may actually be having permanent all-day double decker slots. The old 501 could also have kept its original frequency with double deckers deployed on a permanent full-day basis without being renumbered to 915.

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2023
I can't think of any other bus company in the Peel area besides Buswest-owned Mandurah Bus Charters. Anyway, O405NHs in government service are quite rare nowadays. I haven't spotted one in at least a year since I saw 1504 and 1212 on the same day.Zidanehartono wrote: ↑Fri Mar 17, 2023 11:15 pm For those who are free this weekend, the Channel 7 Mandurah Crabfest is back after a 3 year pandemic-related hiatus. Artics provide the bulk (if not all) weekday services on the 950, even well into the evenings (albeit in diminishing numbers). It took far too too long for them to get to that point, but it's great somebody finally woke up to the need.esperanceguy47 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 12:32 amA LOT of artics on the 950, especially after 5pm weekdays from the city, as you would expect.
24s were certainly being serviced by artics relatively often as additional artics came into service in the Western suburbs in recent years. A 27 certainly would be a bit more unusual, although not out of the ordinary; more consistent with their utilisation across most of Perth, where an artic is allocated to whichever shift (or part of) has some run or another that needs it, while the remainder of the trips could potentially be serviced quite adequately with a Toyota Coaster!esperanceguy47 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 12:32 am I saw a very random artic on route 24... or was it 27... after 6pm on Wednesday, ex-city.

Supplementary trips on the Red & Yellow CAT do occasionally see artics, but in spite of the high patronage of these routes, it's pure luck (see above point - as these trips are done by Palmyra buses, it was probably used on a school run prior to running into the City)
The 66 was hard-linked with the 345 in some service changes a while back. Perhaps that's enough to keep the 66 alive (just?), although I notice Flinders St has kept the 370 as a peak alternative to the 970 (and it's hard-linked with 376s). Given the very high frequency of 950s, there's no real time saving catching a 66 to get somewhere along Beaufort St; it would serve more of a purpose running non-stop to the City, without any (pointless) intermediate timing stops, or not at all.esperanceguy47 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 12:32 amA 66 & 980 ex-city went by at the same time and I cannot believe people still utilise the 66.

The shuttle service for this year Channel 7 Mandurah Crabfest is proudly provided by ZION Coach Services and one bus from Peel Bus Hire & Charters.
The following buses on the shuttle services (by registration) were:
The following buses on the shuttle services (by registration) were:
- 1HGR788/ex-Transperth 1533 (Mercedes-Benz O405NH/Volgren CR225L)
- 1CDU858 (Mercedes-Benz OH1830L/Express Coach Builders)
- 1HNR907 (Hino RN8J/Express Coach Builders)
- 1HCW634 (BCI)
- 1HVK658 (BCI)
I would say that they are in regular service on a smaller scale since Busselton still has a handful of them operating town routes, TransBridgetown also has 1204 and 1231 for the school runs there and for the Perth metro, 1566-1568 on a regular basis too (well at least on my Friday outings).
Besides EQBS, bus/train stations across various parts of Perth have only been designed for single deck buses as Perth does not have double deckers on the cards and since the demand isn't as high as in other major cities like Sydney anyway.Enviro 500 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 1:10 am If Perth had infrastructure to support the use of double deckers like Singapore and Hong Kong.

Up to and including 1683 have been refurbished so far.
