Foldable bicycles on buses
Re: Foldable bicycles on buses
The funniest thing to see with these buggies is when they have completely level access with no gap, as on the Perth trains or Sydney metro, they roar in from the platform to the carriage and vice versa without slacking off one bit at the doorway. I don't mind them. There should be some compensation to make life less miserable when you can't move around on your own feet, often with chronic pain.

You're missing the point. It doesn't entitle them to drive irresponsibly expecting to be at the top of the heap on path ways or illegally in some cases. Just type mobility scooter on road.

Re: Foldable bicycles on buses
Many people on electric mobility scooters are quite able to walk a short distance and a mechanic my brother had who lost his licence used his moms to get to work.
By using certain roads the problem of different speeds is overcome with far more passing space and just like any other section of community there will be some who are rude but most are nice.
Instead of two cars I see people having one car and one electric scooter they charge at home.

I am reading that the US has to be wary of making hats mandatory because in Australia many people stopped riding.

Australia as usual being that only country in the world with a stupid idea. At least 50% don't comply anyway.
The lucky country, not the clever country.

New Zealand and some Canadian provinces have similar laws.
NZ has much higher compliance than Australia; the helmet laws are reported to be even more vigorously enforced.
Re: Foldable bicycles on buses
The thing is in Australia a lot of poeple use a bike as exercise and they are bent over the front wheel going fast but in the safest country in the world for bikes they do not need a hat because they are sat up using it as a form of transport.
PS
Anyone over 10 km/h needs a licence and hat to encourage kids to learn the road rules and this would apply to electric and standard bikes.
