I have additional details on m/o 4216 as Harris Park Transport then Merrylands Bus Co.
I have details for m/o 4283 as Granville Bus Co.
I am also chasing details for m/o 4147 and m/o 4170 in addition to m/o 4133, m/o 4273, m/o 4279 m/o 4362 and m/o 4385.
I am also interested in details for m/o 5170 before the more recent tegistration of this number with Busways.

My rego list shows that m/o 4159 was an AEC DD with Fogg and was ex m/o 1458. (m/o 1438 was a Leyland TD5 and was never registered as a bus after DGT service but sold to Narromine as caravan. It was acquired by the Sydney Bus Museum in the 1990s and i assume it is still there.)
m/o 4166 AEC Redtop was never used as a DD but chassis was rebodied with a FC Syd Wood body.
m/o 4279 was a FC Bedford with a Comeng body for Kurnell Bus Svce.
m/o 4283 was FC Leyland with an own built body with Granville Bus Service.
m/o 5170 was a FC Bedford with a CCMC body for Col Sinclair.
m/o 4216 was FC AEC WITH A Comeng body with Merrylands Bus Service.

Easily done LB608 as i know  as most of my posts are done between midnight and 2AM due to my crap internet being at its best then and being just about to nod off myself at that time i have mistyped a few times, luckily gently reminded by others in the further posts ( or i pick it up myself the next day when i am more awake) that i have made a boo boo. :(

I have m/o 5275 and m/o 5278 registered with Hillsbus in 2010. I am interested to find out whether these registrations were previously used on other buses.

I also have an articulated Volvo registered with State Transport as m/o 4255. I am interested whether this registration was previously used on a private bus.

Hi hugh45, the plate m/o 4255 was issued towards the end of 1959 to an AEC with a MBA body with the Sinclair Bus Services then sold to Merrylands Bus Service.

Do you know how the Volvo acquired this plate?

Brings back memories of the shock when for the first time i had seen it when DGT 31 seat SD Leyland m/o 2862 lost its number plate in October 1963 and instead of the usual practice of waiting for the plate to be remade it was issued with the private rego of m/o 4716.
Sorry no info on m/o 5275 or m/o 5278.

hugh45 - m/o 4628 was a FC SB Bedford CAC with Duffy of Richmond and went through a few registrations with Duffy starting out as MO 111 then registered as m/o 4419 then finally m/o 4628. After service with Duffy it was sold to Lanes of Warrnambool Victoria as JJN 109. The plate MO 111 after removal from the SB was used on Duffy's 1961 CCMC bodied Bedford SB3.

m/o 4708 was a FC Syd Wood GMC with Larkins Bus Service route 6, then Jamiesons Bus Service . It came from Richter of Umina where it had been MO 627 and after sale from Jamieson it went to Canowindra on car plates ENT 760.

m/o 4774 was a Syd Wood bodied AEC Half Cab with Seven Hills Passenger Service and came from Pioneer Coaches of Bexley. After service with them it went to a wreckers yard at Padstow.

My photo of m/o 4708 and this Don Allit photo of m/o 4419 before it became m/o 4628.

I suspect that m/o 4131 may have been issued from the Newcastle registry.

Hi Red and Cream

Slightly off-topic. But I had never seen reference to "Vardys Road Bus Service".

I am guessing they ran route 144 between Seven Hills and Vardys Road. In my own notes about that route, it was run by (as per website):
  • Toongabbie Bus Co (Feb 1959 - November 1959
  • Seven Hills Bus Lines (M Holman & WA Willmot, November 1959 - April 1961)
  • Seven Hills Passenger Service (Wilmott, from April 1961)
Seven Hills Passenger Service later transferred to Fitzgerald & Barton.

Was Vardys Rd Bus Service perhaps an alternative trading name for one of these operators?

Thanks

Robert

Fleet lists for Pioneer Coaches shows m/o 266 was sold to Crowther & Sons, Cronulla in February 1961. If it was then sold to what is shown as Vardys Road Bus Service at a later date, I assume that it would belong to Seven Hills Passenger Service.

Hi LB608, some info about your rego numbers from my records.
m/o 154 was an AEC half cab with Parramatta Bus Co.
MO 280 (Country rego) was a Toyota Arakawa mini bus with Harris of Tumut.

Cheers Dave.

Hi bushead, i know you posted thia message nearly 12 months ago about rego details and in regard to m/o 4328, hugh45 correctly identified it as a Granville Bus Co bus. i thought you might be interested in a bit more info about it. m/o 4328 was an Austin with a PMC body and was one of the very earliest buses constructed by PMC in Sydney and after service with Granville it was sold to Lowder of Wee Waa as M0 3270.

Cheers Dave.

The Wee Waa operator was Lowder. The Grenfell one is Loader.
