The orders likely dictated how the operators wanted their buses.
- Volgren built these CR225Ls exclusively for Transperth, and they also built the smaller CR226Ls for the CAT routes.
- The CR224Ls had a front based on the European Scania OmniCity, and it just so happened that a bunch of them were ordered by Brisbane.
- The CR227Ls were tailored for Dysons/East-West and the former Melbourne Bus Link

All of the other operators that ordered from Volgren during this time received either CR222Ls or CR228Ls
I hope you're not suggesting that only BCC received the Volgren CR224L - both Adelaide (TransitPlus and Southlink) and Melbourne (Grenda and Ventura I think, but likely others too) received the CR224L as well.

I don't think CR222L and CR228Ls were built at the same time, rather the CR228L replaced the CR222L as the "standard" Volgren body. Prior to the CR222L (which came out in the late 90s) they produced the CR221L too (another ugly design).

There were a very limited number of CR223Ls (or possibly CR223Ds) made for Singapore I believe - from memory they looked very similar to the CR224L design.

Prior to the CR228L, Volgren had a terrible habit of making extremely ugly buses (the CRR224L discounted as it was a Scania-designed front end) - thankfully the Optimus has always looked futuristic and attractive.

I had to attend to other matters that day; I didn't have the time to explain everything; particularly because this is not the Volgren thread. Just briefly...
- I did not say all of the CR224Ls; there is a difference between "all of them" and "a bunch of them", the latter which I actually said. I'm well aware of the CR224Ls in Adelaide, and given that I partially grew up in Melbourne I'm already aware of the Grenda ones as well.
- The CR222L was replaced by the CR228Ls; I didn't say there were done at the same time.
- The CR223Ls you refer to are all double-deckers and were all operating within Asia, which is why I didn't mention them. (I was addressing the stuff that was/is operating here in Australia) There was only either one or two ever built that had the CR224L front; the rest had slightly modified CR222L fronts.

There's another thread on this board to continue this discussion, so I will leave this post as is.

Funny how North and Western and Southtrans had similar buying habits in some ways. PMC Leyland Tigers, various Leopards and at the end Custom 510 0405s.
I was always bugged by Custom not making the most of the lower floor provisions of the 0405 chassis which was a proper city bus chassis, or the wide entrances.A waste in my books and so many were ordered that way. They may as well have been an underfloor engine Volvo B10M with their interior layout. People from other countries with O405 fleets would have been perplexed at how so many operators ordered these bizarre bus configurations on such a chassis.
Maybe the good old days are just the old days.

Point taken so split to separate thread.
And later amalgamate various Flickr threads which may have caused some posts to be out of sequence but the headings may sort that out.

First time I've noticed a CB80 with split windscreen. I like it.

The Endeavour looks too Asian to me. The Element is much more local looking.

Don't care for the electric bus. It probably is actually Asian.

Correct, ex Qantas Airport Shuttle bus, don't believe it was ever entered into the Carbridge fleet-lists at any point of it's life but not too long ago that MAN NCBC along with an L94UB with NCBC Bodywork + Bluebird CSFE Express were listed for sale through Jeff Nance in Sydney so Qantas has just retired these in the last year.

As to who their with now... uncertain but at least the MAN has found a new owner, unsure of the Scania & Bluebird.

Scania No longer listed but Bluebird is still up for Grabs

The Bluebird is a very unique bus to Australia being an American chassis not normally sold here.
It's basically a pair of chassis rails with off the shelf American componentry, much like Australian chassis/integral bus products.
I wonder why they required this chassis to be shipped over and bodied here?
