Transdev TV 151A Surprised to see this on TV plates in Urunga Parade, Miranda yesterday - it was only 22 years old when this was done - it stil looks in very good condition considering it was one of the very first and few Transdev buses to have been repainted into TNSW livery back in 2013.

Transdev NSW Mercedes-Benz O405/Custom Coaches "510" - ex Veolia Transport , ex (135), ex Crossley Bus Lines (Danastra Pty Ltd), Revesby m/o 015; ex m/o 7374, in Urunga Parade, Miranda 3/2/2022 in TNSW livery on driver training, carrying South Granville accreditation.

When did they bring out those plates like TV 610A?
North Sydney are smart getting those ex Transperth units with Voith transmission.

TV695A is also with Moore's Tours.
Considering they got this far in about two years, I would expect the rest of the A plates to go within the next twelve months.

Interesting, are they buying buses solely for rail replacement? Or bidding for stationlink2.0?

Not saying it isn't the case but that wrap might just be a leftover from the previous operator / owner of the bus T2B Melbourne

Those O405NH's were possibly purchased for rail replacement anyway since NSBC does seem to do a fair bit of it so it is a somewhat of a win-win for them to already have it in a rail replacement wrap.

I'd also imagine these O405NH's won't come out of this and once sold off they'll still have the wrap.

North Sydney needs to refront them with the style used on STA's B12BLEA artics. What was Volgren thinking?

They don't look as bad in Transperth livery. Just shows how classy it looks that it can even make that bus look respectable.

Just about the abnormal fronts of the CR225L, a period between the late 90s and the 2000s saw a period in which Volgren were building certain different series of bodies specifically for some major operators. The orders likely dictated how the operators wanted their buses.
- Volgren built these CR225Ls exclusively for Transperth, and they also built the smaller CR226Ls for the CAT routes.
- The CR224Ls had a front based on the European Scania OmniCity, and it just so happened that a bunch of them were ordered by Brisbane.
- The CR227Ls were tailored for Dysons/East-West and the former Melbourne Bus Link

All of the other operators that ordered from Volgren during this time received either CR222Ls or CR228Ls.

That is definitely the case. The Dineen group purchased a bunch of the O405NHs for their Moorabbin-based T2B which, as it says on the tin 'Train 2 Bus', was a branch exclusively dedicated to trackwork and level crossing removal bustitutions. The creation of T2B helped out during the period when there was a great abundance of rail line closures across the Metro network due to both trackwork and a number of level crossing removals.

This was because last time there was a closure of one of the major rail lines in Melbourne which took place during a school term, either Metro or PTV (I forgot who made the call) had to call in some operators from NSW (Telfords being one of them), SA and QLD to help out. T2B eliminated that need this time around, and once that period passed, the buses ended up surplus and Dineen decided to sell them off, hence NSBC ended up with some of their CR225Ls.

I'm betting they went cheap. Thanks for going through the various derivatives of that body shape. They all seem to have pretty much the same backs with the recessed vertical light clusters, some with two lights per side, others with three including reverse.

Which variant is the one with.the little twin round projector headlamps, like Sydney's pre-Optimus buses got?

Yeah, they tend to only immediately update them from the point that the units leave WA/Transperth.

Just the normal very common CR228Ls. The dedicated series building ended around 2005-06 when the second version of the CR228Ls started rolling out. Then there was the third version with the same fronts but the different closed backs known as the 'CR228L Futurebus', then following that, the Optimus.

That would be because this information comes quickest - buses are stored, then officially withdrawn/decommissioned, auctioned and usually turn up soon enough in an identifiable state (fleet numbers aren't removed).

There is also the issue of reliable information, or whether information comes at all as to the movements of these vehicles. There are only so many gunzels, and they're increasingly fragmented across social media.

Some Transit Systems Artics photos

On Weekdays except Tuesday ever since Transit Systems has taken over region 6, there has been an artic working route 751S in the afternoon from Sylvania High School to Kogarah which is worked in the morning by Transdev as route S256. I guess that wont happen after this. I could not check this afternoon because of the strike.

I have only managed to get a usuable photo of it https://www.flickr.com/photos/193972346 ... 686200239/ a couple of weeks ago.
One of the 2 remaining Mercedes O500LE/Volgren CR228L's with Transit Systems region 6 2095 ST, was still operating on school route 751S today https://www.flickr.com/photos/193972346 ... 742273342/
2095 has been operating that service fairly regularly.
In the first week of school a Custom Coaches bodies one was identified by Anytrip but I did not get any photos. Today I saw the other Volgren CR228L 2150 ST on this school run and i did get a photo https://www.flickr.com/photos/193972346 ... 908196762/

School runs 731s and 733s in the AM Peak and School run 751s in the PM peak should all be artics on a daily basis. They are included on 'A' or 'B' shifts at Tempe Depot, which are rostered artic shifts.

Apart from those school runs, there are a number of 320, 476, 477 and 478 services which are rostered artics. I am unsure of how reliably Tempe is at actually allocating artics to these runs.

Wrong chassis. A Volvo B12 not a Merc. That really got me confused.
