Visited Gold Coast today and saw the new livery on the On-Demand bus.

I like the colour and would like to see more on Brisbane's buses.

Not quite as bad as the NSW lookalike livery on a regular bus that was shared recently.

Although I wonder, what six-figure sum did it cost to come up with a livery based on three shades of blue plus white? All this modern claptrap about "brand recognition" and "visibility" yet they concoct a drab, uninspiring, "oh it's just another bus" livery.

Years ago Brisbane buses were blue like that.

C1903 on 598. not sure is cover trip or not. but hopefully GCL now run by shared depo (Sherwood, Carina and Virginia) to reduce dead running.

Toowong and Carina also used to run the GCl a number of years ago but Sherwood now has the honours on their own (hence the early morning starters at both Toowong and Carina depots that still exist).

saw 1385 at the back of Toowong depot (next to 1294) and still with W logo. i presume this bus loan to toowong

(does toowong still send their 12xx CNG to garden city) or they stop sending their CNG to GC (since the volvo/volgren contract end) (because i heart that they want to make toowong full diesel depot. Last toowong bus that is permanent at GC is 1274. 1271-1273 before had been send to GC but it was return to toowong again.

Is there a refurbishment program undertaken on buses as they approach midlife?

Otherwise the usual reasons for buses appearing at a 'foreign' depot apply; change-off due to breakdown (is there a Toowong bus lurking at Willawong?), Toowong has the BT Workshops, so it could be there for major work or some swap to make up for an unforseen shortage.

Interesting that 1385 and 1386 are all doing Willawong runs this morning
1385 doing 100 and 1386 running 135
Does this mean they are home again?

1294 and other vehicles you see in that area are for the Toowong Workshops, they are usually there for major mechanical or accident repairs, not for service. To the best of my knowledge, 1385 blew its engine, and I know 1294 is a bus used for testing.

Toowong is transitioning to Diesel, as late as 2025, just waiting on the CNG cylinders on the buses to reach their end of life. Most CNG bus fleet movements have been to cover temporary service interruptions or extra routes

There's no current refurbishment program as such, only thorough regular chassis checks. Mechanically, they last as long as they last, then get rebuilt/swapped.

I’m wondering if they will keep the man diesel buses in service or not. I’d presume they are kept in service until they are replaced by electric buses

I heard from a friend that they saw a bus that had been involved in an accident on Newnham Rd last night near the Link Rd intersection. Would anyone happen to know which one it was?

Do you know if there have been any MAN CNG withdrawals lately? Last I heard anything was at least a few months ago.

Given the lack of deliveries of late, I'd say there won't be any further withdrawals (barring exceptional circumstances) until new buses start coming online.

New buses are a ways off, I believe TfB is going through the motions of what propulsion will be used for new buses.
Given the commitment to zero emissions by 2025 - new deliveries (apart from Metro) are on hold until a decision has been made regarding this.

MAN Diesels aren't going anywhere. And no planned CNG decomissions in the near future.
