I seen 1 in Noosa last week with Kinetic branding but it wasn’t a Volgren body. Seems all the sunny coast is getting Kinetic branding as well.

Not sure how I'd feel about camera mirrors ... always one electrical glitch away from being stranded with an unroadworthy vehicle.
Some blind spot cameras utilised on fleets across the country are particularly prone to faults.

I agree. There is an awful lot of techology ignoring the principle of "if it aint broke dont fix it".
No paper street directory will tell you to drive to Straddie by going straight ahead from the beach at Cleveland.
My car has the reversing camera which, while useful, could never be a total substiute for mirrors.

I was at Indooroopilly today and noticed the new bus changes at the bus station. Stops D and E are on the street. I noticed people are jaywalking across Station Road after getting off their service at stop E to enter the centre. This is not an ideal situation. Another poor outcome from the configuration change is that stops D and E do not have any real time displays for upcoming buses. I was under the assumption, they would at least have ePaper as a solution.Image

It has always been a problem with Stop D where the Uni buses have been disembarking passengers for some time.

One of the issues is that it takes an eternity for the traffic lights to change so people just cross the road to avoid the delay - really that whole area should be a shared zone (I know quite impractical) as the number of pedestrians is only going to increase.

I don’t think I have seen any for around a year now

Also is tfb front seat unblocked now? Just been on two buses in a row (1254, 1042) that are unblocked. I will confirm this but hopeful!

Can confirm now the front seat has been unblocked. Some buses have a paper “please leave this seat vacant” sign but majority are unblocked.

1585 seen was operating 222,212 and 235’s (Carina Routes)
today according to AnyTrip.

Anyone have any information on this bus? I assume it’s a test vehicle as it is numbered similar to E1595 (Volvo B5).

I haven’t heard that TfB had any new vehicles in testing, or planned to… Apart from Yutong which are Numbered 6000+ ect.

It’s also interesting this test vehicle has been placed at Carina (if it’s a test vehicle)….

Any explanation would be appreciated

Could it possibly be the new Spring Hill loop buses? I didn’t get a chance to see it today sadly

Is there a chance the bus was 1885 and it is some sort of typo in the unit's transponder coding?

Nope, looks like 1885 is operating a 200 while 1585 is operating a 215

Exciting as it may be a new bus type. Maybe BT isn’t ready for electric buses yet so this might phase out some of the Toowong Gassies.

Interesting:

“South Brisbane Loop

Works are being completed in December 2022 to prepare for the new free South Brisbane loop.

The new service (route 86) is expected to start in early 2023 and will travel in an anti-clockwise direction along Grey Street, Montague Road, Vulture Street and Tribune Street. The bus stops which will be part of the new free service will be re-branded to a distinctive green and white.

The service is expected to operate every 10-15 minutes, 7 days a week between 10am and 11pm.

Popular stops along the route will include:

Cineplex at South Brisbane
Gallery of Modern Art
South Brisbane Station / Cultural Centre
Davies Park
South Bank Busway.
Visit the TransLink website for more detailed timetable information.”

I'd be quite surprised if a new bus type has suddenly appeared in service without anyone having seen it during delivery, in a depot or on the road (even on driver familiarisation runs). If the Council are expanding their trial of Electrics (or maybe another fuel source), I'm surprised there hasn't been any publicity around it.

So we will wait and see, and eventually find out if it is a glitch somewhere between the bus and AnyTrip (I've watched a lot of characterful behaviour from trackers in the past, so it seems a distinct possibility), or if there is indeed something going on with the fleet.

Wondering if this service is partially in response to the protests regarding the 192? Or perhaps the meandering affair that is the 198?

Spring Hill Loop is set to be operated by fully electric Yutong E4 busses, out of Eagle Farm - similar to the city loop 40/50.

Unsure when this will begin although it is definitely in the near future, as I believe they are currently repainting E6004 in Spring Hill Loop colours.

I’d assume new additional Yutong busses will be delivered for 30,40,50’s (possibly even the new 198 replacement, route 86 which was mentioned - if operated by Eagle Farm) although i have no confirmation.

If T is losing the 30s, that's at least two buses towards the cause of the 86 (assuming they don't transfer something to E and additional electrics come). If the 198 is cancelled, there's another bus or two freed up.

"1585" is out again today. I don't think it is a transponder error!
