This thread has been renamed STA Observations 2021-2022 as it not worth creating a separate thread for the first three months of 2022.

Re: STA Observations 2021
Even though it is now 14 years since I wrote the fleet lists software, I have done a bit more investigation myself. It appears that the problem goes back to April 2020. Since then all changes made to the STA fleet lists are present but have one field missing which should contain the constant STA. I have edited this into the change to 2241 ST made yesterday and there the change is now listed. I will try and fix the others as time permits. Still no idea why this started, why changes to other operators are not effected and how to stop it from happening in the future.Fleet Lists wrote: ↑Thu Dec 23, 2021 1:05 pm I had also noticed this yesterday.
I just noticed that this also happened with the Region 8 Keolis Downer changes back in October. In both cases a there were a lot of changes which need to be input individually for each bus if using the update script. I know because I wrote the software back in 2007.
I suspect that for these changes the normal script was not used but the changes were made by editing the text file direct so that they can all be made in the one edit but in such cases it is not possible to add the reasons. I will try and confirm that this is what has been happening.

Re: STA Observations 2021-2022
Thank you for fixing this problem which as you say has persisted since April 2020. In most instances some guesswork is needed in relation to STA transfers because the transfers were not being recorded. Let's hope that it remains until April 2022 when Port Botany, Randwick and Waverly are transferred to the new operator.

Unfortunately we have not yet found the cause of the problem.I will patch the other changes during the next few days as well as any future ones until hopefully the cause is found.

Some more changes in the last couple of weeks, as well as some from April 2020, have been corrected but there is still a long way to go

There are apparently staff shortages in the Eastern Suburb and Ryde depots, will we see coaches operating on some STA services?

Re: STA Observations 2021-2022
All changes have now been fixed including 3 changes made yesterday so obviously we have not yet solved the problem which is causing the records to be incorrectly formatted just for the STA changes but not changes to other files.
I expect about 1000 more changes shortly when changes are made to two fields for the nearly 500 buses which have been transferred to Busways at the beginning of this week. No news as yet as to when this will be done

Guys did anyone notice That the Timetables and Bus stop info for Routes 251 & 253 are suddenly gone? Like i have not heard any news about these two bus routes recently so i'm not sure whats goig on with these 2 routes here.
Now I'm noticing the same thing with Routes 286 & 287 aswell. Does it have anything to do with the Covid staff shortage going on?

Wrong section as this is no longer STA. Now Busways.
The two routes are still listed on the Busways timetable list with links to the Transport for NSW timetables but the links do not work.

It seems that region 7 routes that are currently not operating due to a hybrid covid timetable being in place have disappeared from the transportnsw.info timetable pages. It's being brought to the attention of TfNSW.

15 Scanias have today been shown as withdrawn in the STA fleet lists. Still no reason for changes shown in initial edit but have been fixed since.
Still not known why script is doing this.

And that appears to mark the end of the L113CRL's in government revenue service Since looking at STA Fleet-lists only shows what remains with at Willoughby (However that is now under the Busways banner)

Re: STA Observations 2021-2022
I can confirm that all remaining L113s that were in the fleet at R have now been withdrawn, moved to P and had plates removed - ending L113 service at State Transit.
The final trip was operated by 3716, the 14:15 390X ex Bondi Junction to La Perouse on Wednesday 12 January 2022.

Re: STA Observations 2021-2022
Now that STA will shortly no longer exist. I wonder what will be the future of the -ST rego plates.
I understand these were made to release the equivalent m/o plates for issue to private operators. Although ST plates so far seem to have been transferred over to private operators at time of contract change, what might happen when these buses are eventually withdrawn and replaced with newly registered units?
Could we end end getting m/o nnnA type plates as has happened with the TV- series?

Re: STA Observations 2021-2022
I suspect the ST plates will continue in use until buses using those plates are retired or require replacement plates as has been done in some cases.
In the range m/o 1000 to m/o 3999 a quick calculation shows that no more that 400 are currently in us with 2600 plates available for issue with more in the high 3 thousands becoming available in the near future. The ones then still in use will mainly be in the range m/o 1500 to m/o 1726.
I cant see any reason why they can not start reissuing plates in the 1000 to 3999 range bypassing 1500 to 1726 and a few other odd ones. That would make at least 2700 plates available. Hence I can not see any need for any nnnA plates as suggested for a long tome to come.

Re: STA Observations 2021-2022
All recent issues to private operators, including those operating ex State Transit regions, have been in the 8xxx and 9xxx ranges. Once exhausted would expect that the gaps from 1000 will be filled. Doubt there will be a wholesale reregistration of STxxxx registered buses onto m/o plates.
Re: STA Observations 2021-2022
Since Transit Systems and Keolis Downer (Newcastle) took over the first STA regions, M/O plates have been allocated to them. It would mean all future new registrations will be just M/O plates. I am wondering with the future of ST plates but expected no more new ST plates to be issued after all Custom Elements have been registered.
Re: STA Observations 2021-2022
On another note that the Sydney Olympic M/O Plates have been slowly phased out through replacement to yellow version or withdrawals.

That started as far back as 2009 and I thought had finished by 2018.

Re: STA Observations 2021-2022
I presume this is the end of the system prevailing since the 1930s where mo plates were divided into privates being 001 to 999, then 4000 and onwards from late 1950s and governments being 1000 to 3999. We're the ST plates also within the 1000-3999 range?

Re: STA Observations 2021-2022
Yes they were also in the 1000 to 3999 range but before they were issued the STA was also allocated the m/o 4800 to m/o 4999 range.
There would be no purpose in retaining that system.

Re: STA Observations 2021-2022
A few of the Willoughby Scania L113s now operated by Busways retain their Olympic plates. Some of the high floor Scanias operated by Transit Systems in region 6 until last year also retained Olympic plates until the end.Fleet Lists wrote: ↑That started as far back as 2009 and I thought had finished by 2018.
