Transport for Brisbane Observations 2021

Post by 385BUZ »

Hi all,

This year and onwards, there will be some changes regarding threads in the QLD section, in line with what has been discussed with Admin.

We will have 4 threads replacing the current 2. They are:
- Transport for Brisbane Observations
- Transport for Brisbane Discussion / Questions
- Rail and Private Observations
- Rail and Private Discussion / Questions

An example of a post that could be posted in the Transport for Brisbane Observations thread could be:
Bus T2914 in service this morning on a 385.
An example of a post that could be posted in the Transport for Brisbane Discussion / Questions thread could be:
Does anyone know what happened to bus T1229? I haven't seen it in service for months!
An example of a post that could be posted in the Rail and Private Observations thread could be:
Hornibrook bus #99 has been withdrawn and is up for auction on manhiem.
An example of a post that could be posted in the Rail and Private Discussion / Questions thread could be:
I reckon CBS 45, 46 and 47 will be the next to be retired as they reach 20 years service next month.

Here's to a great 2021! 🙂
Regards,

This mornings 7:10am inbound 125 service operated by S5112. The only other time I've seen a TAG run a 125 was a few months ago at around 10pm, so quite a rare occurrence. With the 124/5 routes carrying upwards of 1 million commuters/year (pre-COVID), surely a frequency increase for the 125 is warranted, as well as a more direct routing between Garden City and Salisbury. The 125 is on the cusp of greatness, and a re-jig and streamlining the Ipswich/Beaudesert Rd routes would be such a significant improvement for commuters.

Likely a cover trip. 125's outbound have an issue at the intersection of Henson RD and Fairlie TCE, TAGS are too long to fit through the interesting design of the intersection without mounting the kerb. In terms of frequency increase its probably not required as the 124 covers very similar ground, though certainly agree that some more HCV's could be useful on these routes as they are on main roads.

1281, 1309, 1317, 1318 & 1319 have all had their AOA’s removed and now back in standard livery. 1309 is also having a bit of an identity crisis displaying T1309 on one side fleet number and G1309 on the other. This bus is not heading back to T, the fleet number was covered when in AOA and hasn’t been changed since transferring into G.

All buses at Eagle Farm Depot are now registered under the National Heavy Vehicle scheme and thus have XQ registration plates.

A Virginia bus on CityGlider 60? I thought Eagle Farm only operates CityGlider 60.

E is the only depot that runs route 60, but in this instance, V was covering for E.

Brisbane, like Perth, has a long-standing relationship with Volvo & Volgren, but choose a foreign import for an electric trial.

Good luck to them.

Well Volvo chassis are also foreign imports.
Volgren has to date only bodied a BYD electric - also a foreign import chassis.

S1989 currently running a 333. Also this morning I noted 2 G MANs in a row running northbound 66 services. I know uni isn’t back (properly yet anyway) but with the 66 currently at 10 min peak frequencies (instead of the uni sem 5 min headway’s), overcrowding could have been an issue.

Route 333 is not in Sherwood's route list, but I think Sherwood was covering for a north-side depot or Toowong depot (I think).

T2917 (XQ53QE) parked at Volgren today. There were also a number of chassis visible so there may be a flood of new arrivals in coming weeks.
