It doesn't open for me, but that was news a little while ago. Metro Tasmania is trialling a couple in Launceston.Lt. Commander Data wrote: ↑Mon Dec 11, 2023 9:15 pm An element has surfaced in Launceston: 📸 Look at this post on Facebook https:/ ... tid=K35XfP

First Element with a single rear door. Hopefully we see more Elements but I do feel like they aren't favored by many companies.

More will arrive in Launceston next week.

Off to UK:
Re: Custom Denning Discussion / Observations
I figure the reason for that (which I've observed in other Midi battery buses in Europe) is that chopping a couple of metres off the back of the bus has meant that there's no room for equipment in the back of the bus and it has to go under the floor. It's a compromise of being a 10 metre bus. Are 12 metre buses allowed in UK? At least it's only one step, not the mountaineering jobs we're getting in other electric buses in Australia.

Yes, the Mercedes-Benz Citaro is a 12 metre bus.tonyp wrote: ↑ Are 12 metre buses allowed in UK?

Re: Custom Denning Discussion / Observations
Not too sure whether this belongs here or in another thread, but I found something quite interesting on the web:
Custom Denning claims to have delivered a Scania Hybrid Custom Endeavour to McGinty's of Victoria (apparently trading as Trotters?): https://www.customdenning.com.au/post/c ... brid-model
A quick search on the fleetlists reveals that the only Custom Endeavour operated by McGinty's is BS01PD, but a video I found on YouTube of BS01PD shows it very clearly lacking a roof pod (other than one for the ACU): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8dJUo8Aadk&t=1377s
Something doesn't add up - the Scania K320CB, from memory, is offered in both diesel and hybrid options but if BS01PD is indeed a hybrid K320CB then where is the roof pod? Some Wright StreetLite Hybrids in the UK that I found on Wikipedia don't seem to have a roof hatch either: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wright_St ... Hybrid.jpg
But ultimately it is left to wonder why Custom Denning needed to design a roof canopy if the K320CB does not require one.

And on the page there is also a diagram showing how the battery is supposedly implanted into the roof cavity. In a stride towards sustainability and innovation, Custom Denning has proudly unveiled its latest alternative – the new Endeavour Hybrid model built on the Scania Hybrid Chassis. Building upon the success of the existing Endeavour diesel line, this new variant incorporates advanced modifications, including an 31kWh lithium-ion battery unit that has been seamlessly integrated into the roof canopy.

Re: Custom Denning Discussion / Observations
Isn't the body being built on a K320HB (Hybrid) chassis? I know that they have three endeavours under construction to be delivered to the Donric Group to operate in Sunbury (Vic.) On fleetlists there are two Scania chassis, (likely hybrids) waiting to be delivered:MiCCROwavE_OVEN wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 6:10 pm Not too sure whether this belongs here or in another thread, but I found something quite interesting on the web:

I don't think BS01PD would be a Hybrid bus. perhaps there was supposed to be another bus delivered, or the hybrid vehicle hasn't been spotted yet?

Re: Custom Denning Discussion / Observations
BS01PD is a diesel K320CB. The K320CB is available as diesel or hybrid.MiCCROwavE_OVEN wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 6:10 pm Not too sure whether this belongs here or in another thread, but I found something quite interesting on the web:

Re: Custom Denning Discussion / Observations
If that is the case it would seem unusual that Custom Denning marketed a diesel vehicle as a hybrid - after all they are the ones who bodied it.
