Is there any evidence that either a government agency or private sector developer is advancing its cause?
They think in last century technology which is uneconomical because HSR cannot take an overnight container train due to maintenance.
Japanese maglev cannot take an overnight container train either so it too becomes uneconomical.
China may know how to drive tunnels but with only 1 cm clearance their maglev will never go 700 km/h.
America could use an international standard maglev after it is proven economical Sydney to Melbourne with passing stations at Canberra and Albury for daytime stops.
Germany is too small but still could participate with continual improvements in the TBM design.
It really needs an international standard designed by China, Japan and Australia for international maglev as we do not want a repeat of the different gauge joke.
I think China and Japan would love to participate in Parrahub to Melbourne to showcase the international guideway which many big countries would use also whacking up the Parrahub building would be good softpower for China.
It is easy for me to suggest this as I have no career to lose but it definitely is worth looking into while we can.
