The last thing the world wants is a nuclear war. The closest we ever came to that was in 1962 during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

And the potential for the reverse situation of U.S nukes in Russia's neighborhood beckons. Funny how the U.S applies different standards to somebody else when it comes to them potentially basing their nukes near Russia.
If Ukraine hadn't refused to commit to remaining neutral and the idiots in the EU hadn't refused to pledge not to have Ukraine in NATO, this wouldn't be happening. If Donald Trump hadn't been robbed and cheated out of the election and was rightfully still in the oval office, this certainly wouldn't be happening.

As a sovereign nation, Ukraine should be allowed to decide which alliance it wants to join. This is only making Moscow look bad, hence the sanctions imposed on them. The only problem is Russia supplies most of Europe's gas.

While I agree that Zelensky is brave his wife may be disappointed with feeding children in the world especially in the poorer countries also Putin's war will cost everybody worldwide. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTiZzYANgYs

I believe he overestimated US appetite for getting drawn into another war.

Maybe the Russian speakers should have been allowed to secede https://www.pewresearch.org/global/2014 ... e-country/

Germany should turn on Nord2 and spend the increased defence spending on greening Germany.

Russian speakers who want to secede from Ukraine should be allowed to with a vote.

Ukraine should concentrate on rebuilding their country.

If Putin wants to run Russia like the USSR it will fall down the same way as the USSR

Just my five cents rant.

After watching Clive Palmer on ABC, though I disagree with his virus attitude and he never paid the workers at Townsville I like the fact that he wants to use some super in Australia, limit interest on house loans to 3% to keep people in their homes while putting a tax on exported minerals to get back in the black I think I will give him a go something I never thought I would do.

His attempt to sue the WA government over border closures is a big turn off for me. It is thanks to Mark McGowan that we haven't had any curfews imposed on us unlike our counterparts in Melbourne and Sydney. Even in our worst day our case numbers are nothing like that over East.

I usually don't get involved in political threads for numerous reasons (I'm here for Transportation & Buses, not politics) but Palmer & Co (The guy that shall be called "Kelly") are a bunch of snake oil salesman to put it that way. In remembering that this is the very same billionaire Palmer that as you said failed to pay his workers and I'll add mass spams the living daylights out of everyone's mobile numbers (who also says to put a stop to it if elected but I'll spoil it that it simply won't happen). Not sure why anyone would be keen on still wanting to vote for him given the numerous other major controversies he is surrounded with.

Palmer has avoided paying the Nickle miners for the mining operation he ran but has plenty of left over cash to waste on those useless yellow propaganda billboards & Youtube advertisements. There was the recent controversy that he went & purchased a historical vehicle from a Russian oligarch while there was mass sanctions being placed on Russia because of what they were doing to Ukraine. Also about his anti-vax stance, I'm 100% certain it is another snake move from Palmer that he is anti-vax this and that to gain voters from those whose views align with him. He most definitely would've been first in line to receive the vaccination.

Major restrictions have been eased in numerous states here for ages now & yet he's still running on a very outdated objective, not a very bright way to campaign but he is our version of Trump so I didn't really expect to see common sense to come into play.

Before I possibly deal with responses I'll receive for what I have said, I'm just wanting to say I'm not stopping anyone from voting who they want, it is a free country here and you vote for who you want to vote for. I am just wanting to point out that Palmer isn't really the greenest (as in positive) politician one could vote for.

The thing is UAP candidates tend to give preferences to the Coalition, resulting in a meme that says Clive Palmer is Scummo's sugar daddy.

Well of course, what major party besides the Greens & ALP doesn't?

Anyway not too sure what the voting population really expects Palmer to do if he was elected, if he couldn't pay the miners and sprouts on the way he does, what on this green earth does he have any hope of running the country besides making us look more ridiculous than when Scott was behind the wheel? Pretty much why I pretty much summed him up as a snake oil salesman, I don't like a few of the other parties either (Won't name which because as I said I'm not here for politics) but they are somewhat better than ULP.

All I want is to have a political party that won't whinge about things the opposition didn't do right 10-15 years ago when the current party has been in power for the last 10 years and get on with the job, that's one of the many reasons your elected, run the country, not whinge every two minutes. 10 year old's could probably run the government better than the current mob in power.

If only... Alas it is not the case. I don't think there is a Government in this country that hasn't pointed the finger at their predecessors at some point. If it's someone else's fault, fine, but the problem needs fixing, not arguments of whose fault it was...

Liberals are specialists at that. Even in their second term it's "well the previous Labor government...."
Their smug and virtuous stance as though it's morally correct for the LNP to be in power is nauseating.
Simon Birmingham is the worst in doing that.

The ALP in both WA and the NT are both excellent at deflecting blame to their Liberal predecessors too.

Take McGowan, who assumed a few transport projects when taking the reigns as Premier in 2017 and incorporated them into the "Metronet" umbrella. Next thing, we have tunnels collapsing (killing workers), safety debacles and suddenly an about face excuse, "they're not really Metronet projects, we just took the reigns from the previous Government who signed those contracts." People dying, but it's someone else's fault.

I trust none of them.

They're really as bad as each other, bit I favour Labor's more socially conscious approach even though it's smoke and mirrors.
The Libs are just shamelessly pro rich these days.
They used to be more socially conscious. Both have become economically more right wing.
What I deeply dislike is Labor being dragged toward the far left when it comes to social policies, by the Greens.
They need to cut ties with them.

It is funny how One nation and the United Australia party are not team players and in my opinion SCOMO is loyal to a fault but he crossed the line paying some woman $500,000 to keep silent.

So it's ok to have Labor's woeful more destructive one in that basis?

ALP and LNP are essentially two sides of one coin. Both are no better than the other. That being said, LNP social policies are designed for maximum benefit of the big end of town, ie the rich and corrupt 1% elites who are enemies of the people. If you have never been on the dole in your life, you won't understand where I'm coming from.
