It is believed that with 197 buses at Foundry Road and 32 at Seven Hills there is just not enough room in either depot by itself.Campbelltown busboy wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 3:19 pmWhy do they need 2 depots in Seven Hills just close the Hartley road depot and make Foundry road depot the only CDC depot in Seven HillsLinto63 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 2:41 pm Most noticeable change will be the transfer of routes between depots to reduce dead running. More info is available on their website at https://cdcbus.com.au/comfortdelgro-aus ... in-sydney/
"Additionally, CDC NSW will expand its Sydney footprint to operate bus services in Region 12, which will be consolidated into Contract Region 14." confirming that region 12 will no longer exist.

Transition dates appear to be April 2023 for region 4 and May 2023 for regions 12/14. They will run for 8 and 7 years respectively.

The CDC NSW website states
"CDC NSW runs designated route services in the Metropolitan, Outer Metropolitan and Regional areas of NSW, as well as Australian Capital Territory (ACT).
We operate under multiple brands including Hillsbus and Forest Coach Lines in Metropolitan Sydney, Blue Mountains Transit, Hunter Valley Buses and Coastal Liner in Outer Metropolitan Regions and CDC Broken Hill, Blanch’s Bus Lines, Brunswick Valley Coaches, Forest Coach Lines, Qcity Transit and Transborder Express in Regional areas of NSW "
One would expect all these to switch to the CDC NSW name in the longer term OR adopt "CDC locality" names as has been done with CDC Broken Hill.

In the case of CDC Victoria all operations operate as "CDC locality" including CDC Melbourne so we will to wait and see if this happens in New South Wales for Sydney.

I know the general public isn't really going to care about anything to do with the sake of naming however just to clear up some confusion where multiple Hillsbus Depot routes crisscross each other (I think Parramatta may be one?) It'll be a sensible solution if they go with the locality naming;
Example; CDC NSW Seven Hills, CDC NSW Northmead
So since this is Transdevs region, what of course will be the story with their Region 12 Buses? Transfer to other operations or CDC NSW taking over them?

All of the buses from about 2007 that are NSW Government owned will pass to the new operator. CDC will then be responsible for procuring the remainder of the fleet, which may or may not be the ex Transdev fleet.ScaniaGrenda wrote: ↑So since this is Transdevs region, what of course will be the story with their Region 12 Buses? The rebrand has been much speculated upon, but never delivered. aside from the odd CDC NSW sticker on the roofline of buses. Historically CDC has retained legacy brands rather than rebrand its acquisitions, both here and abroad, Victoria being the exception to the rule.

Re: New bus contracts to drive improved services (as from 2020)
"CDC NSW Seven Hills, CDC NSW Northmead" That is not a goer as they are just the depot names so could not be used in timetables for depots within the same region where routes could be operated by multiple depots.
It is believed that at the previous awarding of contracts, Transdev, unlike other operators, transferred leases of all their vehicles to Transport for NSW for continued use at the regions concerned so that should not be an issue now - they will go to CDC in the case of region 12 buses. And in the case of new buses since about 2005 to 2007 depending on the region concerned, are on lease only to operators concerned for the period of the contract and move automatically to any new operator when contracts change so CDC would again be the answer.
This corrects some of the previous post.
So as I see it, the question only arises with buses from before about 2005 or so, from operators other than Transdev. So the number of buses concerned should reduce to about zero by the time the contracts come up again next time.

Re: New bus contracts to drive improved services
This has been deferred continually until the outcome of the new contracts became known but will now take place as it is clearly stated that the Forest and Hillsbus names will NOT be used once the new contracts come into use. The question remains as to whether they will use locality names but as they have done so in the case of Broken Hill, I expect they will do so at least in the case of other regional operators if not Sydney.Linto63 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 7:12 pm The rebrand has been much speculated upon, but never delivered. aside from the odd CDC NSW sticker on the roofline of buses. The legacy names may live on through the accreditation names.

The crossover thing can also happen with Busways Glendenning and Penrith depots at Mount Druitt whitch only became a issue after Busways got full control of region 1 in 2013

Re: New bus contracts to drive improved services
They certainly rebranded in Darwin at the commencement of the new contract (which included taking control of the former Territory Transit/Darwin Bus Service fleet) some months ago. There had been speculation among staff for nearly 18 months prior that the rebrand was coming - evidently it was dependent on retaining/winning the very delayed contract.Linto63 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 7:12 pmThe rebrand has been much speculated upon, but never delivered. aside from the odd CDC NSW sticker on the roofline of buses. Transdev's Volgren/BYD electric buses still belong to Transdev afaik.ScaniaGrenda wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 6:59 pm So since this is Transdevs region, what of course will be the story with their Region 12 Buses? Transfer to other operations or CDC NSW taking over them?

Just realised yesterday's CDC announcement coincides with the 10th anniversary of the awarding of regions 1, 3, 12 and 14. Coincidence or not?

That applied to regions 10 and 13, but not 12.Fleet Lists wrote: ↑It is believed that at the previous awarding of contracts, Transdev, unlike other operators, transferred leases of all their vehicles to Transport for NSW for continued use at the regions concerned so that should not be an issue now - they will go to CDC in the case of region 12 buses.

Wasn't the original region 10 contract the shire south and west of Miranda and between Hurstville and Kogarah/Rockdale
Re: New bus contracts to drive improved services (as from 2020)
Yes and it still is, with the later addition of Region 11 east of Miranda, the area previously run by Caringbah Bus Service, Crowthers and Kurnell Transport.

Region 10 which has always extended as far north as Bankstown. But route 925 has a question mark over it as it operates as far north as Lidcombe in region 13.

Didn't the 925 start out as East Hills to Bankstown via Condell Park and the Bankstown to Lidcombe part was added on laterFleet Lists wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 8:41 am Region 10 which has always extended as far north as Bankstown. Seems to be more Bankstown-Lidcombe than East Hills-Bankstown now so i'd imagine Bankstown, Revesby and possibly South Granville depots get involved in it.Didn't the 925 start out as East Hills to Bankstown via Condell Park and the Bankstown to Lidcombe part was added on later
Re: New bus contracts to drive improved services (as from 2020)
That's right, in the Integrated Network Plan the Lidcombe end ran separately as 912, then it was through routed with 925.Campbelltown busboy wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 10:25 amDidn't the 925 start out as East Hills to Bankstown via Condell Park and the Bankstown to Lidcombe part was added on laterFleet Lists wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 8:41 am Region 10 which has always extended as far north as Bankstown. Whitch of the 2 Bankstown to Strathfield route got through routed with the Liverpool to Bankstown 860 when the Liverpool to Burwood 900 the now M90 was being planed for region 13. The other Bankstown to Strathfield route became the 913
