I’ve been told that yesterday was the last day of operation for the TSA 14.5 Oranas at K. I note that STA currently has 3 in service, 2 from M both on the 288 and 2 from P on the L94 and 400. Does anyone here know when the final STA services will be?

If anyone wants to see some images of the Ansair Orana 14.5s on their last day of service, here is a link to Bus Interchange where they are seen on 420 services:

2+2 = 4
The fleet lists currently show 14 at M and 9 at P. They are also used regularly on 391/2 and occasionally on 393.

Sorry, I can usually count. I updated the post when I saw a 400 start at Eastgardens but obviously forgot the change the first number.

There's a chance that the 44 new Damlier buses will replace the Scania L113CRBs from TSA

No. They are Mercedes-Benz O500LEs. Same Euro 6 chassis as the Transdev units.

It's great to see some of the 14.5M being preserved. Not long to go before they all disappear.

5 preserved so far.

Definitely a must have. Two though :o .
It will make a good addition to their static displays.

One might be a parts donor?
The other forty or so scrapped?
I hope some engines and gearboxes are saved as some must be decent and those motors are not readily available elsewhere.

I know of at least one 14.5 bought with the intention of it being a part donor, which I am pretty sure is 3453. I know that 3419, 3430 and 3444 are being saved. What are the other units being preserved?

3430 is the one that the museum plans to preserve, with 3444 being for parts. As I mentioned earlier, 3453 is also expected to be used for parts, so hopefully that keeps a nice lot of spares around for the 3 TRBs that are being preserved (at least that I know of).

3459 carked it on a 400 a few weeks back and given its now disappeared from the fleet lists I guess its not coming back. :( That leaves just 3 14.5s at P and 14 at M

The remaining two 14.5 Oranas at Port Botany are on the way out after the October long weekend. The Willoughby ones appear to have bit longer left, but will be all gone by the years end.

Only the M units march on, and only for a month or two at best now.

Does anyone know how 3421, 3423 and 3427 have been allowed to stay in service? I saw all of these buses this week and I though that surely they would have gone by now, being over 26 years old.

End of an era. Maroubra will lack that bit of variety as the Australian bus scene gets increasingly insipid by the year.
I rode my first 14.5m in Maroubra in 1993.

It might get a bit more cramped on the replacement buses, but it will be more comfortable ride, (and save STA money in not having to keep refilling the 14.5 air bags with concrete)

Don't get me wrong, they are piles of utter junk which I will never miss. I was never impressed from the start.
Only their crowd sponge properties are a positive.
The Bustechs will be the "best" of both worlds don't you fret, which is why the sooner they fix up the terrible road surface of Anzac Pde (which looks like it's been through both world wars), the better.

AnyTrip for NSW has very interestingly sometime recently added a filter for "14.5m rigid buses" - maybe a handy tool for people to find the last remaining 14.5m Scania Ansair buses at M. I hardly see them anymore off-peak these days so I'm sure the end is near
