It is actually shown as withdrawn from Leichhardt. It was transferred from Kingsgrove to Leichhardt in 2020.

Is it one of the rebacked ones with reshaped rear and rubber surround LED brake, reverse and indicator lights?
They are an improvement IMHO.

3825's withdrawal seems to be unrelated to the arrival of electric buses at Kingsgrove. The withdrawal of 3786 last week at K (not yet reflected in fleet lists) is probably more related

3786 now also shows as withdrawn in the fleet lists.
Here are two older photos with the second one in Transport for NSW livery - one of a few to be so repainted,

I remember being only the second driver of 3842(?) our thereabouts and the new car smell was so strong, your could smell it as the vehicle pulled into the relief point like a girl wearing perfume.
Now they're being withdrawn. They still look very modern and run like they're new. The Tangaras of the road.

It is not all retirement news with TSA moving 5 such buses 3806 to 3810 from Leichhardt to Tempe during the past week according to the fleet lists, with 3810 seen in service on route 477 in Miranda this morning.

It appears that the Oranas are destined to live well beyond their 26th birthdays. I gather that this is due to the current situation with the electric bus rollout. Particularly given they are oft criticised for poor build quality and other issues, it is a testament to their design that even if flawed that they have lasted quite so long in service. I doubt we will ever see buses last this long on the road in service again in NSW.

There are now 30 Scania L113CRL Oranas in service at Transit Systems that are more than 26 years old. 3787, 3789, 3793, 3794, 3797, 3798, 3799, 3800, 3801,3802, 3803, 3804, 3805, 3806, 3807, 3809, 3810, 3811, 3812,3813, 3815, 3817, 3818, 3819, 3820, 3823, 3824, 3826, 3827 and 3828 have all now passed their 26th birthday. 3829, 3843, 3844, 3845 and 3846 all turn 26 next month. Over at Busways, 3693 is now 28!! 3830, 3831, 3832, 3833, 3834 and 3835 all turn 26 next month. By the start of May, 42 of the 49 L113s still in service will be over 26 years old.

Even the early Volvo B10BLEs are now more than 26 years old. 12 B10BLEs at Transit Systems, 3859, 3860, 3861, 3862, 3863, 3864, 3865, 3866, 3867, 3868, 3869 and 3870, are over 26. 1661, 1666, 1669, 1674 and 1677 at Busways are all over 26. Even the oldest B10BLE at Keolis Downer, 3881, turns 26 this month. 3882, 3883, 3884, 3885 all turn 26 next month.

So by May, there will be 64 Orana boded buses on the road that are over 26 years old unless some are withdrawn before then.

Meanwhile KD has been withdrawing 21 year old B12BLEs...

The futuristic design paid off. They don't seem old at all and being low entry (the first) with A/C helps and built over rugged reliable Euro chassis before they got too complex.
No wonder they're holding onto them. It's a shame there's that pesky fleet age rule, otherwise there would be a lot more remaining.
Not surprised we're seeing the earliest B12BLE getting withdrawn as they are terribly thirsty and much more computerised. I remember reading they were designed to last 20 years and it's now 2024 so that has been reached.

What I don't understand was why the B12BLE's are sold off to charter companies instead of being transferred to either U'go to replace their high floor buses or those with Oranas to replace them?

It may be the economics of the B12 don't stack up in terms of maintenance works to push them out to the age of those Oranas?

The B12s that were withdrawn in Newcastle were withdrawn for a reason. They wouldn't have made a suitable replacement for these vehicles.

If anything, the earliest 6 speed B12BLEs should go first as the five speed versions are smoother.

The withdrawl of 20 year old B12s in Newcastle ahead of 28 year old Oranas in Sydney is strange, but there probably had to be a good reason to do so. KD itself would have to have considered requesting to send the B12s to its Sydney operations to replace B10s.

Appears former Randwick Scania L113CRL m/o 3699 has resurfaced with a new owner in Melbourne under the registration of BS06DF

Credit has to go Melbourne Transport Youtuber Tazzie who recently got a ride on this bus, It has lost the blue & white colour scheme having been given a plain white paintjob however the interior is still very much intact from the days it was with our then state government operator.

Youtube video of 3699.
