Rocko extended by 1 years? It was meant to be farmed out with Canning and Southern River in 2020 but the latter 2 apparently got a 3-year extension.

Anyway, I hope Go-Ahead gets both packages. They're doing quite a fine job in Singapore.

2 things Rockingham & Mandurah were always separate from Canning & River the latter of which were extended due to the current global situation as PTA were focusing their efforts onto the local Covid response

And It’s a matter of who can provide the service for value for money basically the cheapest

Don't think it's about the cheapest. There have been debacles interstate with unsustainably-priced contracts, and even in WA (i.e. Perthbus/Connex with the former Claremont/Belmont contract).

The operator not only has to make money themselves, but deliver good outcomes for the network as a whole. An operator, let's say the cheapest, may not be well-positioned to deliver on the latter if they're cutting corners.

Canning and Southern river will now come up at the same time as Kalamunda in a couple of years, I believe.

More likely with Morley and Midland.

Anyway, the original 2010 documents put Canning, Southern River and Rockingham packages under a single contract number, like Claremont, Marmion and Joondalup were.

A very interesting document included in the tender pack (RFT210144 Book 1 Att 07C Bus Transfers) cleary outlines the PTA's plan for the points below:
  • New B8 deliveries for Transdev to Freo/Rocko contract areas
  • Exisiting B7s to be transfered from Transdev Freo/Rocko contract areas to Swan Transit
  • Swan Transit OC Gassies to be transferred to Transdev
  • Transdev OC Gassie disposals

The approved bus list also gives an idea of what will still be serviceable come next year, and the sorts of fleet movements that will occur in the event Transdev lose one or both contracts. I am slightly surprised Palmyra are allocated just one B12 (3008).

1435-1439 and 2013-2030 are supposed to be SRDEP buses aren't they?

Would be interesting if Path got one or both packages because we might see them moving their WPDEP OC fleet out in large numbers and 279* B8s replacing them.

Eg 1270-78 retire, replace with 1390-98, in turn replaced by 2791-99.

Unsure where they belong on paper.
Evidently the plan is for those to eventually be moved to Rockingham to permit older OCs to be withdrawn.

They are all at SR now.

But, like I said, it all hinges on the current operators retaining both packages.

Why, exactly? The 2000s going south are the newest OCs in the fleet. PATH or someone else getting Freo/Rocky shouldn't affect the transfers as they're Swan buses.

Path getting Freo would allow them to get rid of their WP gassies more easily as the 186* ones at Malaga are newer than the 12** and the early 19** ones.

1270-78 could retire now and be replaced wholesale by 1363-71, who will then be replaced by B8s from 2791 onwards.

If you can see on the list new B8s 3249-73 are missing meaning they are most likely going to Path to replace their older OC units.

No point in getting caught up with speculating or trying to predict the outcome of this tender process, currently the tender documents provide an idea of what fleet movements, delieveries and disposals are going to occur within the Freo and Rocko contract areas and transfers between Trandev and Swan Transit up until October 2022.

As previously noted by Merc1107 the documents also indicate what may happen with fleet allocations should the Freo and Rocko contracts be won by two different operators however for the next 11 months its business as usual.

As for Path Transit with its fleet movements, new deliveries and disposals it has been clearly documented in this forum with how this is being managed..... it's just a matter of where the new delvieries are being prioritised to.

The tender documents have given us all some clarity on what looks likely to occur in the next 11 months, beyond October 2022 who knows until the tender process is complete and contracts awarded.

I believe 2013-15 were delivered to Malaga. I think 2043-53 were also temporary at Bayswater a month before the contract changes, but the rest I don't know too well.

3249 was sighted with a Swan sticker slapped on the side

Don’t forget Path will need additional buses for the opening of the FAL for service expansion…

Using later delivered OC500’s to replace older similar examples and then redistribute B7’s to other contracts/contractors is actually a masterstroke.

I believe there may be some spare buses from Morley when 340 gets withdrawn. Also, some of the additional buses could be 2791-9 for all we know.
