NSW TrainLink Coach Operators

Post by David10 »

Earlier in the year, Transport NSW called for expressions of interest to operate its regional coach services: https://tenders.nsw.gov.au/?event=publi ... B5B058993C

I understand that Ogden's have regained the Lithgow / Mudgee / Baradine services from Greyhound and Nowra Coaches the Wollongong / Moss Vale and Moss Vale / Goulburn services from Roadcoach. Any one aware of any other changes?

Ogdens took over the Lithgow-Coonabarabran-Baradine two coach contract from Greyhound as of 1/7/14.I understand Greyhound lost it due to poor performance.
Rumour has it that Ogdens have lost the rest of their Trainlink contracts to a Victorian operator.Swan Hill Bus Lines is the name bandied around. Not confirmed as yet though??
Cheers.

these things happen ,just because you are the local bus company in a certin area does not mean you will get the contract each time, that's why its called tendering, the best company who they think does it at a good price and offers a good tender gets it! Sorry to say its a dog eat dog world out there.ask CDC who thought they would automatticlly get there tenders again.............didn't BIG as they were,...............they lost,so its back to the drawing board. the days of operating a bus service for life are gone..................proberlly why so many family companys have sold out!

Indeed and IIRC Dysons has a coach depot in Albury/Wodonga.

Just hope that Dysons stay away from the BCI coaches, I've never been a fan of them and always preferred the Autobus that Makehams would operate when a BCI was out of service.

I have split this off as a separate subject at it likely to lead to a number of future posts which are likely to extend beyond the end of this year.

I have also heard as posted somewhere previously posted that Roadcoach had lost their contract . Do we know who picked that up.

I have a list which includes that Makehams Coaches currently operates
Wagga Wagga to Griffith
Wagga Wagga/Cootamundra to Tumbarumba
Cootamundra to Queanbeyan
Cootamundra to Mildura
In the article it states that
Melbourne-based company Dysons Bus Charter will operate the Griffith and Tumbarumba to Wagga services, while Deniliquin's Purtills will operate the Echuca to Wagga route. So there are some differences which need to be sorted out.

Also the article states that earlier this month, 18 contracts for bus services linking to XPT services around the state were handed out. Can we find out what all these 18 new contracts are to complete our documentation on this subject.

And then merged the posts into a previous thread which also touches on this.

It would be nice to know who all the new contract holders are.

Dysons currently have two 2008 Irizars in NSW TrainLink livery. They previously operated V/Line services, but they haven't been doing much since the South Gippsland route was recontracted a couple of years ago. :)

-Cootamundra-Tumbarumba.Wagga-Tumbarumba.Currently Makehams.
-Wagga-Griffith.Currently Makehams.
Kmet Transport Services Pty.Ltd,t/a Roadcoach,Moss Vale.
-Cootamundra-Queanbeyan.Currently Makehams.
Loaders Coaches Pty.Ltd,Grenfell.Retained.
-Bathurst-Grenfell.Lithgow-Grenfell.
Port Stephens Coaches Pty.Ltd,Anna Bay.Retained.
-Newcastle-Forster-Taree.

G & J Purtill Pty.Ltd,Moama.Not Purtill Bros.Nominees Pty.Ltd,Deniliquin.All retained.
-Cootamundra-Condoblin.
-Cootamundra-Mildura.
-Wagga-Echuca-Albury-
Swan Hill Bus Lines Pty.Ltd,Swan Hill.
Not confirmed 100 % yet,but are adverising for drivers based in Coolabah,Brewarrina,Broken Hill,Cobar and Dubbo,.
An unconfirmed report suggests Ogdens have lost all their contracts based out of Dubbo.
So we can work out from this at least these contracts have changed hands.
-Coolabah-Brewarrina.
-Dubbo-Bourke.
-Dubbo-Broken Hill.
Nowra Coaches Pty.Ltd,South Nowra.
Again not 100 % confirmed but there is enough evidence to say that
-Bundanoon-Moss Vale-Wollongong.Currently Kmet Transport Services Pty.Ltd,t/a Roadcoach.
Nice to see small operators in the form of G & J Purtill,Roadcoach and Loaders have won tenders.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.

Got to love the media releases using the same template!

http://katrinahodgkinson.com/katrina-ne ... -services/
http://maguireriverinamedia.com.au/news ... rvices.pdf
http://www.stephenbromhead.com.au/wp/wp ... rvices.pdf

Though  at this
Many of the new coach services also include:
Spacious luggage areas
Accessible areas for people with disability
Seat belts (lap sash)
Air-conditioning and heating
Onboard toilets for longer journeys
Electronic destination boards.
The old contracts required it, so nothing 'new'.

Or as I call it polishing poo, it may look shiny but at the end of the day it's still poo. Politicians are good at it.

Some routes will see new coaches and operators but the service remains the same. Though it is a pity that they (Government) don't start planning on the replacement of the XPT after the report in 2012 (two years on "Government is considering a range of options".

G'day Lourie. The Wagga-Griffith Trainlink contract overnights in Griffith so Griffith would most likely be its depot.
Same for the Coota/Wagga contract which overnights in Tumbarumba.
The Coota-Bathurst.Coota-Dubbo contracts overnights in both towns.
The Parkes-Condoblin contract overnights in Condo.
Just need to establish which coach operates on which contract.
Thanks to Bidgee we have determined one.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.
