Re: 679 Preservation Update
Looks good High Floor Bus.
I think all 679 needs now is that drivers side rear rim to be white
Other than that all looks good.
I cant wait to ride on these privately preserved buses.
Seeing all of them makes me want to preserve one myself!

Re: 679 Preservation Update
679 was taken for a spin down to Wilson depot for some work on 686. On the way down a few snaps were taken , here we have 679 in Midland by the rail line with the new Swan District hospital being built on the old Midland Railway Workshops rail yard.
This ones for Mr T , after all you wanted to see some trucks! Here are the preserved twins together again . After being spoted by "Wayfarer" in Ardross BC & HFB stop for a shot in Applecross. A trademark flower shot here at the rightly named Garden City. Had to wait for a bit to get this shot with the shark bus , for the moment its ex MTT fleet number eludes me. Here we are seen down at the new "Coogee Marina" Down at Woodman Point regional Park 679 is seen neer the old WWII Defence bunkers Now we all know that TP Bus services run late every now and then but here is 679 finaly turning up for a 117 to Mandurah from the old Kwinana Bus Station. Enjoy

Wow, that last photo of (679) is something of a homecoming as it was originally based in Rockingham!!

Re: 679 Preservation Update
Ok Guys, here we go again on boring you all with some new night pics of 679 out n about after her short layover on defect rd with a diesel leak from a split rubber hose that returned unused diesel from the injectors,so in the end all return hoses were renewed so 679 doesn't end up like some misfortunate OCs have.
in the mean time other small things have been fixed ,the leaking power steering reservior tank, leaking retarder pipe fitting, rear aux air tank valve & most importantly for the up coming winter months , the Heater.
One other thing was fited for my convenience was a "Remote Control " of the front doors. Now theres no excuse for the front doors to be open for photos.
Anyway here are some shots over the last few weekends , with this one keeping Mr "T" happy. I don't why i had not taken 679 up before , but with a view like this , shes gunna have to return again soon. Pitty the lights were off at Perth Arena. Drink up you thirsty girl. This time down at South Perth with the the City lights stealing the show. This time the Old Mill was only lit up by the Freeway street lamp and not it own flood light ,which tends to shed to much light on the Old Mill for a night shot. This Blue "City Clipper Service" waiting down at Cannington Station. Another SOR night view but from Mad Apple this time. With my RRU6 having the bad luck of three flat tyers over two different days this week, and only having two spares on hand ,679 with her diesel leak fixed was pushed into service as my transport to and fro work today. No excuses for missing the bus to work here. :lol.
And thanks to PBCNG & Bus Child for the location suggestions too on the nights.

I bet "Bus Driver" is one of the few occupations where you could drive a bus to work and have a place to park it (its not like there are too many places to park a bus if you worked in an office or a retail store or a construction site or whatever)

Re: 679 Preservation Update
Just a small update on some cosmetic body work done to 679 in the last 7 or so weeks.
firstly when 679 made her last visit to BPSWA , her new front fleet numbers gracefully supplied and fitted by Colin and were a welcome addition and complemented the new number plates.
As seen in todays pic here. in the last few weeks some new parts that were on order arrived , the new front orange indicators to replace the clear OC type and the new rear reverse lights to replace the cracked/dull one.
When replacing the reverse lights ,the paint underneath showed the bumper was had a gloss finish as expected , so the rear bumper was repainted gloss black and aswell new number plate lights fitted too. The red refectors were cleaned up to give the rear bumper a new look. One thing that has bugged me about the look of 679 was the front grill panel alignment , and it wasn't till i had the grill off when fixing the heater that the reason was discovered.
in this befor & after shot you can see the sunken grill and RH headlight in daylight photo on left and the repair in the night shot on right. 679 has been involved in some sort of minor front end accident and the repair was not completly finished off to a standard that i would expect.
The rh Headlight/grill strut was left in a bent position and not reshaped to original position like what i have done.
The 4 pic repair shot has one pic with the bent RH bar still in place. with the rest showing the cuting , rewelding/shaping trial alignment fitting of the RH strut. And while we were at it the front bumper repaired and painted up too and the front number plate raised off the bumper bolts with a new frame to hold the plate.
And now for some out n about shots. No "you reverse up" Nup "you reverse up" No way "you reverse up" lol.

Nice shots of 679 and with the remaining O405s no doubt soon to be replaced with shiny new Swedish things, I am thinking about rebuilding my current LEGO O405 into a replica of 679
Would look good sitting next to my replica of 661 I suspect

Re: 679 Update
Hi all , Just an 679 progress update for anyone that has not seen the Facebook WAMBOS page showing the latest update pictures.
As we all know 679 had a non original Headlight & Grille replacement a few years back by its previous operator, this update shows the
progress to reinstate 679 factory looks .
Having recived my original Bosch Headlights from Germany(Not Cheap) in 12 days postage time, the wheels were set in motion to promptly fit them the following weekend.
In the first 2 pics we have removed the old Headlights a loosely bolted in the new lights with one bolt for a test fit to see any problems.
Bumper alignment was one and the altered original light brackets second. In the top left pic shows the altered bracket mount for the non original lights.
The RH Top pic has 661 (sample donor)light bracket sitting in place of the buses RH light body mounting point witch was cut down for the earlier light conversion.
Bottom LH pic is one of the 4 copys done of 661 light bracket (2 for 679 & 2 for 686).
And the Bottom RH pic is of the headlight being alinged(with 661bracket) in the re extended Body mounting point. And last shot with the New Bosch all fitted up an correctly aligned. And thanks to the Nite Flyer for the use of 661 light bracket, which made the conversion back to original lights so much smoother.
