Well let me explain for you. Instead of directly affecting the employer by depriving them of revenue, they have to deprive the agency who in turn fines their employer.
As in -no direct mechanism.

LIFTS - MOORE PARK STOP
It's possible the lifts at the Moore Park light rail stop are the most unreliable in Sydney. They are out of service, on average, about once a week. Moreover, repairs seem to take ages to be implemented. Complaints to the various "authorities" don't seem to have been effective. The makers proudly claim, on a plate in the lift cabin - "Liftronics - Sydney's leading lift company".

Perth had similar issues with escalators at railway stations. The Government ultimately escalated (pun intended) the situation to some sort of legal battle and had them fixed (or was it replaced?), after 12-18 months bickering. So with any luck, if those lifts are proving horrendously unreliable, there might be something quietely in the works to get it fixed once and for all.

The location of these lifts probably attracts ferals who delight in interfering with them. Carrying 1000s of kids (most of whom could easily walk up the stairs) probably doesn't help either.

Exactly, don’t know if the ongoing outages are caused by issues with the lifts/equipment or vandalism.
An asset of NSW. All opinions/comments are strictly my own.

L2/L3 services today are being truncated at Town Hall due to some "EVENT" at QVB.

I should have snapped a photo, but there was a stage and folding chairs and such setup across the line in the middle of George St. I highly doubt this would have been done if it were still being used by car traffic. Why is it okay to disrupt public transport so bigwigs can listen to each other give speeches? Surely there's plenty of other venues, why not Martin Place or the public square next to Town Hall, for example?

They get this treatment in Melbourne too apparently. Police or fire brigade will park on tramlines to avoid blocking traffic lanes, never mind the passengers or schedules. Part of the general contempt for public transport.

It was "The Long Lunch" promotion.

They have closed other city streets for movie events, premieres, etc.

I don't think it's a case of shutting it because it's not used by cars anymore but I think they may abuse the flexibility of the LRVs to be truncated.

Probably the mini-terminus at TH was designed with that purpose in mind.

I can see why they made the power in the ground. It would be ugly there with overhead everywhere.

Wires are the least visible thing. Poles are the worst and they've put poles there anyway. That third rail makes the tracks pretty ugly too. Aesthetically it just wasn't worth it.

Street lights and for hanging banners off.

There are a few trees down the lower end of George St which could run foul of o/h wires.

From 5pm 31 Dec 2021 to 4am, services will end at Town Hall due to NYE crowd control.

At least this year they're running services to Town Hall and not stopping them at Central like they did when it first opened :!:

Most definitely, I have quite a few photos of the operation. I presume this continued all evening.

I'm very surprised and pleased to hear it ran to Town Hall this year, knowing the transport boffins around here.

^ there’s another CAF (unknown number) sitting behind 2118 in Randwick depot.

Guess they gotta make way for incoming Citadis on L1?
