And a very secure limb it is, Mr renaultartic: 481 is a mere block closer to Perth than your guess.

God I love these RTs and Rms, one question though....the number plates??? From where is "RTL547" derived?
Anyway, before my ongoing exile into oblivion from the atdb ominously approaches I'll step out and wildly claim "Macallum (sic) Park" in Vic Pk?

 Mr insert_coin is once again right on the money.

We used to run rides from there, over the Causeway & around the city block during what used to be called the McCallum (spelling? dunno!) Park Festival. Leaning against the bus is the late Bruce Harris.

"RTL" as a type designation is sometimes argued about, but my understanding is Regent Three Leyland. Post-war, AEC couldn't produce enough Regent IIIs for London Transport's requirements, so Leyland were contracted to modify their Titan PD2 chassis so that the engine & radiator sat lower, plus they were fitted with AEC pre-select gearboxes (in lieu of Leyland's standard synchro box). The bodies were interchangeable between the AECs (RT) and Leylands (RTL), and infact RTL547's body originated on an RT.

Number plates wise, the RTL also regularly worked the York Fair & the rego Y1650 was secured as being the closed to its UK rego KYY640. The only personalised plates available in those days were those horrible black on blues with the white P. These were also pre-TC plate days.

Crikey....you are well informed Herbert. My uncle - are you 'him' LOL? I actually thought the London models were pre-select as opposed to synchro; lurn sumfin noo evry dae!

When I left London the "squares" were newish and now of course the norm.
Great gen.

Thanks again Herb for the informative "gen" - cleared it up beautifully for me.
In celebration, I'll steal the open floor from myself before the big 'B' encroaches and ask exactly where and on what route is this creature?

Dont mean to be mean but you left the stop number visable which identified it at as Calume street Hilman but also you went to white out the bus number but the picture name underneath identifies it as 1982.
