Changes to the Bothwell Route 140 Service
Metro will operate the Bothwell to Hobart service for the final time on Friday 30 December 2011.
O’Driscoll Coaches will operate the service from Tuesday 3rd January 2012.
Passengers who normally board or alight from the Route 140 service between Pontville and Bothwell in each direction may continue to use this service as operated by O’Driscoll Coaches.
Passengers within Metro Tasmania’s operating area between Brighton and Hobart may use alternative Metro services as detailed at http://www.metrotas.com.au or the new Route 800 Brighton Express
Changes to Route 140 Inwards
From Tuesday 3rd January, Route 140 from Bothwell to Hobart will operate as follows:
The service will depart Bothwell at 6.48am, then travel via current route to depart Pontville at 7.37am, then direct via Midland Highway to Granton, then Main Road to Glenorchy Bus Mall, then as per the current route to Hobart City arriving in Macquarie Street at approximately 8.29am. The service will only set down passengers between Brighton and Hobart.
Passengers who previously boarded the Route 140 service between Brighton and Hobart City should instead use existing Metro services or Metro’s new Route 800 Brighton Express service as detailed separately.
Changes to Route 140 Outwards
From Tuesday 3rd January, Route 140 from Hobart to Bothwell will operate as follows:
The service will depart from the O’Driscoll Coaches bus stop at 103 Macquarie Street, at 4.05pm and will travel via Argyle Street, New Town Road, Main Road to Glenorchy Mall, then via Main Road to Granton, then direct via Midland Highway to Pontville, then as per current route. All departure times will be five minutes later than the current timetable, arriving in Bothwell at 5.43pm.
The Route 140 will continue to pick up at its existing stops between Hobart City and Granton, but the service will not set down before Pontville. Passengers who previously alighted from Route 140 between Hobart City and Brighton should use existing Metro services or Metro’s new Route 800 Brighton Express service as detailed separately.
Using Greencards on Bothwell Services
Passengers who use Metro’s Greencard ticketing system will be able to continue using their card after O’Driscoll Coaches commences operating the Bothwell service. The O’Driscoll Coaches bus will be fitted with a Greencard machine for this purpose. New applications and replacements for lost or stolen Greencards will remain the responsibility of Metro Tasmania. Bothwell passengers can top-up their cards on-board the O’Driscoll Coaches service and can also continue to use existing Greencard agencies or the Metro website to top-up their cards. Bothwell passenger Greencards will continue to be recognised on Metro Tasmania services.

New Hobart - Brighton Express
Route 800
Metro is pleased to introduce the new Route 800 express service between Brighton and Hobart.
The Brighton to Hobart service will commence from Brighton at 7.00am and travel via Cove Hill Fair, Main Road Austins Ferry and Claremont then travel EXPRESS via the Brooker Highway and to arrive in Hobart at approximately 7.52am.
The Hobart to Brighton service will depart Hobart at 5.40pm from Bus Stop F in the Hobart Bus Mall. The service will then travel the reverse of the morning services and will arrive in Brighton at 6.32pm.
