Re: Rex Law's Redline Coaches
The coach pictured appears to feature one of the Denning/Seddon chassis, making it originally Redline No 76 or 77 so far as I can make out.
With frontal rebuild by Superior of course.
Robert would be able to confirm its identity no doubt.
I'd suggest it's a tad too far gone to consider restoration.

Re: Rex Law's Redline Coaches
Redline's regular Brisbane/Sydney 2-day tour morning tea/afternoon tea refreshment stop north of Sydney for many years, after moving from the Calga Kiosk....which had become impractical with advances in coach performance. (During one mid-1950s morning tea at Calga, an elderly gentleman tour passenger took a stroll up amongst the granite boulders behind the cafe and didn't come back. Maybe he knew it was his time.)
I recall a monkey in the little Kangy Roadhouse zoo around the side jumping on my head one day....durned thing had claws like an eagle's talons.....
Of course, the whole place is no more......
**** PS: The memory fails a little at my age....just an update to add that Redline patronised the Mt White roadhouse for some years between the Calga and Kangy Creek periods....which I believe is also no more. ****
Here are tour and express services together at Kangy in the late 1960s.....
With acknowledgment to Paul Wright for the photo.

Re: Rex Law's Redline Coaches
This unit was new as Redline No 66...
The first Denning numbered chassis...Denning/AEC, number ABD1-66.
Originally powered with a GM/4V53 but later converted to Scania D8.
Here's a photo taken at the Melbourne Bourke St Terminal/depot:

Info on this bus has been update thanks to Peter Hodgson
MO5641 Leyland Lion was one of 4 delivered new in 1964 to Sandgate Black and White Bus Service in Brisbane. They joined the fleet of Continental Coachlines when that company was formed. When Continental folded the Lion was sold to Stuarts (3/73). It was resold in 6/73 to Max Holman at Marrickville where it became m/o 223. In 6/75 Max sold the Lion to Anderson of Mullengandra where it became MO5419. It was traded to RM Campbells dealers at Bankstown in Sydney in 7/76. Campbells resold the Lion to Cooma Coaches in 6/77 where it was registered MO7677. It was sold 12/81 to Levers at Queanbeyan. William King photo 21/11/72 and info courtesy Peter Hodgson.

Re: Rex Law's Redline Coaches
This was very likely Redline No 60.....
It has just struck me that there was no particular chassis designation/identification applied to the near two dozen new CKD VK41L chassis that Redline rear-engine modified and assembled at West End. This Denning was one of many constructed on those chassis....
I'm also reaching out for help from all members....
Does anyone have any contact with board member alan4106au
He made some very valid comments some time back about Rex's circumstances as he battled against Pioneer, which I'd like to include on the back cover of the Redline book, which is about to go to print.
I have a little time left to do this, yet I haven't been able to contact Alan via PM or his email add listed here.
I would appreciate any help.
Glenn

Re: Rex Law's Redline Coaches
I believe this old redline Coach is still in Western Brisbane in the hands of a ex Bus Operator. Hopefully will be restored back to Redline one day
