What's for dinner?

Post by Frances »

I'm doing some fried rice tonight - I fried some onion and bacon (with a bit of chilli) and added some sliced mushrooms and diced capsicums. Then I'm going to add the cooked rice and stir in three (or maybe four) eggs - sort of a bit like kedgeree, but not so eggy or spicy. And a garden salad and steamed zucchinis and steamed spinach.

Cooked up a batch of my special spag bol (mince, onion, capsicum, tomato paste with herbs & garlic, sherry, red wine, oregano, basil, bay leaf and bacon or pork) for later consumption but tonight was porterhouse steak & onion with leaves, cherry tomato, coleslaw, potato salad, capsicum, olives and gherkins - washed down with a 2007 Cab Merlot.

Tonight I baked some salmon and did a vegetable dish and a lettuce salad. I don't know what to call the vegetable dish but what I did was first to caramelise some onions, then I chopped up some carrots and potatoes and added them with some herbs and salt and, after about ten minutes or so added some vegetable stock and let it simmer until it was almost ready, then added some (frozen) peas and a bit of red wine for the last five minutes.
