Re: Denning buses and coaches:a history in photos.Part 1.
Are there any photos floating around of any minimasters around? How many are still kicking about?
Re: Denning buses and coaches:a history in photos.Part 1.
The five Minimasters were last with:
- Funseeker Tours Perth
- Happy Tours Melbourne
- Red & White Coaches Sandgate
- Sita Coaches
- Cairns-Karumba Coachlines
The BA photo gallery is down at present, but a Google search for Red White Sandgate turns up a couple of photos of its coach.

mrobsessed wrote:Digressing from Dennings a little. Rodd, what was the exact story behind these five coaches? What was the brief from Deluxe? Admins, feel free to move this one if you like.
Rodd Hood said.
Deluxe wanted a coach that did not require large seating capacity to run on particular lightly loaded long distance services and standardise on the running gear,6V92TA,Spicer gearbox and Rockwell axles, however not a big saving in initial purchase price as the expensive part is the front and back of the coach not the bit in the middle and back then they had rear axle weight issues as we only had 15T GVM overall and we were only allowed 9T on the rear axle. They were heavy on the rear so they did not like weighbridges on the east coast, so a little bit of a utilisation pain when swapping coaches in service however good to drive. So after all of that explanation they were not a big success. Firefly had the same weight issues when a Series 50 was fitted in lieu of a 6V92TA both motors weighed about 1,oookg.

Thanks Rodd.
I am now lucky enough to own the ex Funseeker Minimaster. Below is a pic after I spent a considerable money cutting out rust. It goes for inspection on Friday and will hopefully live an easy charmed life doing seniors day tours in Perth.
Carnarvon Bus Charters in WA run one of the earlier underfloor engined MCAs ex Deluxe. Like everything they have, it is in pristine condition.

Re: Denning buses and coaches:a history in photos.Part 1.
There is one coach model variation thats been overlooked here is the Denning Landseer Hig Screen.
If anyone has anything they can contribute here on the Hi Screen and other models not missed out please help out.

Re: Greyhound GM Denning in 1982.
820829Su Port Hedland - Sandfire (WA). Greyhound GM Denning tyre change. (Roderick Smith). On this run, buses carried two spare tyres.
820830M-01-Victoria River (NT). Greyhound GM Denning SMM(5MM?)663. (Roderick Smith). I had had one Denning (second division) from Port Hedland to Derby, and changed into this one there. I suspect that that was compacting into the first division as passengers alighted.
There was still a lot of gravel in the north, and the service was run seasonally, avoiding flooding.

Sinclair GM Denning in 1979
I have this one in the Victoria section, because of the operator. Others have added more photos there.

Re: Two retoned photos
As I posted my contributions to this thread, I scrolled through the lot, and two photos stood out: one was heavily too yellow; one was classic 1970s gone orange.
I have retoned them, and here they are. IIRC both were on page 1, and one as about 5th spot.
There are two other lesser-ranking colour casts, but they can wait or be ignored.
Denning Denair 03OMA at a bus show: an easy fix.
Denair STA Roadliner: it still looks too yellow, but I wasn't happy when I pulled more out.

So did anyone manage to track this down.
Re: Denning buses and coaches:a history in photos.Part 1.
Here's a photo of it posted in this topic. So,does anyone know what happened to this coach? Where is it now? Maybe the moderators could start a section catering for "Where are they now?" This coach was a unique part of the Denning history.

Would be good to see a rear end pic to see what they were playing around with at the time as well.
Re: Denning buses and coaches:a history in photos.Part 1.
There must be photos of this vehicle somewhere during its time.It would have been around the factory and out on testing somewhere. It looks like they started with a standard coach then altered it.CCCC wrote:Denv12 wrote:Here's a photo of it posted in this topic. Re: Denning buses and coaches:a history in photos.Part 1.
It wouldnt be a Landseer. Its too early. There are various signs that the vehicle is a Denair at the time. The windows are angled. The centre door is the same set up as the Denning's that Fellowes Swansea Coaches from Lake Macquarie had.(does anyone have photos?).The front door looks the same width all the way down unlike the Landseer. The air intakes on the roof is the same as Dennings at the time. This coach was shown at the bus show around 1982 or 1983 as shown in the photos and it also appeared in the Truck & Bus advert at the time. Its possible this coach could have been modified again then sold off.Where did it go? Where is it now?
