That probably defeats the purpose in the first place. I mean why replicate something that is already there.

The import function can be used to import templates in a much more trublesome way as when i export it also exports the other templates needed to work.

And by now most pages are SPAM.

Can anyone clean this up so it now just not worth looking at with all the rubbish which is on it.

I nearly feel like removing the link to it from the home page.

I am in the process of deleting and banning the spam users now. Ideally I would like to have some more sysop users on the wiki. But that requires bureaucrat access to do.

I Have fixed that link up. http://bus.org.au/index.php/Special:Log/delete

Unfortunately due to the way the wiki is set up only Ken and I have the access to delete spam on the wiki. Hopefully if he gets around to it we can promote some more users to have this access.

Another change to the wiki that I have been discussing is to install a small modification to the wikI to enable using the forum account for login to the wiki. This can be also set up so users would need to be established on the forum before being granted the ability to edit the wiki. ( by disallowing the usergroup of new members onto the wiki)

Let me know your thoughts on this matter.

That sounds good. I like the bit about disallowing those in the new members usergroup.

The Brisbane Busway stations' pages need a bit of improvement formatting wise. Whoever wrote them has done a good job and I like the way they've been done but there are still numerous unnecessary or out of place formatting characters on these pages.

I've deleted two spam pages and thanks to the efforts of PRT 065 there is a lot less spam on the BusWiki now than there was before.

Can the wiki be integrated with the forum, with say http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension ... le_Sign-On
This would help to help to stop new spam accounts being created for the time being and encourage people to use it (would help if an anti-spam regex script was installed).

Never realised how bad the wiki has become with the spam.

With the new link which was brought into use a few weeks ago, is there still SPAM? I can not see any. http://www.busaustralia.com/wiki/index. ... =Main_Page

It was certainly unusable because of the SPAM before then.

Spam will still be prevalent, especially if nothing is done to prevent bots from auto registering accounts (especially if there is no CAPTCHA set up).

Can this please be installed? I would like to fix up a template, and not worth the trouble fixing up all the entries from the template until it is done.

We already have separate Single sign in modification that is just waiting for a time where both Ken and I are free to configure it.

Also if you want to import just use the import tool. http://busaustralia.com/wiki/index.php? ... ial:Import

Can I suggest the following extension be installed:
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:SpamBlacklist and
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:ConfirmEdit

Both are known to help remove spam on most custom wikis.

Spam is back, and would highly suggest installing the above extensions to prevent the sudden increase in spam. Won't do much about spam bots self registering, but will stop most of them posting getting though.

Any chance that I can get promoted to administrator rights at some point in the future?

An update for everyone on the Outage during the last few days.

1- The Wiki has been moved back to bus.org.au

2- a redirect has been set up from busaustralia.com/wiki to bus.org.au . If this doesn't work please clear your cache and try again.

3- Some styling images are still to be fixed on the wiki

4- Bus Wiki has a Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/BusWiki - Any minor outages will be updated there.

5- We now have a mass delete tool in operation . About once a week i go through and delete the spam that is added.

I can not get it to work
Then in the facebook page it says "To connect with Bus Wiki, sign up for Facebook today."

Does that mean I need to sign up there before I can see wiki?

So far I have resisted joining facebook in any way.

Can I suggest a complete lock down on the account creation, as a means to deal with the spam for the time being?

Also, unable to make an edits due to this error:
A database error has occurred. Did you forget to run maintenance/update.php after upgrading? See: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:U ... ate_script
Query: SELECT rev_id,rev_page,rev_text_id,rev_timestamp,rev_comment,rev_user_text,rev_user,rev_minor_edit,rev_deleted,rev_len,rev_parent_id,rev_sha1,page_namespace,page_title,page_id,page_latest,user_name FROM `revision` INNER JOIN `page` ON ((page_id = rev_page)) LEFT JOIN `user` ON ((rev_user != 0) AND (user_id = rev_user)) WHERE page_id = '46' AND rev_id = '5842' LIMIT 1
Function: Revision::fetchFromConds
Error: 1054 Unknown column 'rev_sha1' in 'field list' (localhost)
Looks like the above error is in relation to this:
Database error
A database query syntax error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in the software. The last attempted database query was:
(SQL query hidden)
from within function "Revision::fetchFromConds". Database returned error "1054: Unknown column 'rev_sha1' in 'field list' (localhost)".
Full link after redirection too main page is: http://www.bus.org.au/index.php?title=Main_Page

No - The Facebook page is just another way to get information on any issues.

huyie wrote:Also, unable to make an edits due to this error:
This should be rectified. , I was in the process of updating the Wiki at the time.
huyie wrote:Can I suggest a complete lock down on the account creation
Once i get a better grasp of setting permissions i will be changing it to prevent immediate creation of new pages.

Also for those who blank newly created spam pages , Please don't do that as the removal tool can't detect it.

http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Preventing_access comes in handy. Just be careful with any sysop related settings.
