What to get as a first car?

Post by Busman66 »

Hey, I'm currently looking for a first car, preferably petrol with low-ish K's, and under $9k. Any ideas? TIA

Should be able to get a 15 year old Corolla or Camry for that money.
Very reliable if it has a service record.

I forgot to mention that it should be comfortable to drive by 186cm me.

I'm 192cm and fit just fine in a Camry, so plus one vote for Camry.

I'd say it's a toss up between the Toyota Yaris, Mazda 2 or Honda Jazz. But you can't go wrong with option #1.

Holden Camira. Guaranteed to be sold for less than $9000 and to have low k's.

Might be dead after 40 plus years of blowing smoke and falling apart.

A Camry is probably a safe bet, possibly even a Hybrid if one can be obtained in the price range, most likely one of the Aussie built ones.

I was thinking like a Corolla or a Forester or even a Golf.

Golf is a nice car, but at that price range reliability could be an issue.

Forester may be too big for a novice driver.

A Corolla would be a solid choice in that group, get one in good nick with reasonable kms with a good service history. Some of them have issues with peeling paint, especially the white ones
