In February of 2026, the BPSWA registered and tidied up former Transperth O405NH midi 1839, which had been sitting around as a parts donor for 1302 for years, and put it into service on the Whiteman Park shuttle between the train station and the park. These photos show it around the park and station on March 28th 2026.
Performance wise, both me and the driver agree that this thing leaves 1302 in the dust! Drives better as well, and it being a midi helps on the winding park roads.

The Midis were (or are) very sprightly even compared to the best of their 12.5m counterparts and incredibly manoeuvreable. My only complaint is the shorter wheelbase makes it feel like the whole bus experiences dips in the road in an instant.

Having been a regular passenger on the 18XX midis during my high school years (1839 included!), I wholeheartedly agree. Always felt zippy, and very useful for the many residential roundabouts they traversed where most drivers often ride the roundabout on any full-size bus.
