I've seen some occasional ads on Facebook recently for "pop up" coach services between Sydney and Melbourne. No mention of Flix but perhaps a similar model?

Having a look on the app, current Syd-Melb prices are $57 one way from Nov 20, though expect that to change as time goes on. Firefly from memory usually is around $100 with "sale" deals around the $60 mark.

The Sydney to Canberra bookings ranges from $37 and $10! Ironically, Murrays 'Hot Discount' have already price matched Flix for Nov 20 Syd-Can onward departures. It's usually $45 one way. Competition really does drive prices down.

How will Greyhound services be affected long term? Will there be any reductions in services?

Possibly not well, once FlixBus commences operating to Brisbane and further up the east coast. It's a well known brand in European countries from where much of Greyhound's bread and butter backpackers come from and has a habit of muscling in on other's turf with cheaper fares. Wouldn't be surprised if a buyout was to occur. Happened with Megabus in Europe and the unrelated Greyhound Lines in the USA.

Bit of ambush marketing occurring at Queensland bus stations where Greyhound and Premier call with FlixBus signs put up even though it is yet to announce its exopansion north of Sydney.
