Especially given all the work in the last couple years to make the freeway 3-4 lanes all the way from Aubin Grove
The smart freeway does allow for this however the buses would have to run express to the city on the inside lane, an express across to Armadale & Fremantle stations could help spread the load
A part of me wonders whether they'll bring back some of the old routes that used to exist before the Mandurah line was finished.
I remember I used to catch the 740 bus to Perth before the Mandurah line was finished, I think they could bring back those bus routes temporarily.
I'm sure there are other routes that were made redundant by the Mandurah line that could come back temporarily, seems like a better idea than shuttling people to an unused train station, just to catch another bus.

i think is good idea however the problem will be the bus availability from the depo because if i not wrong a lot of route in that time not had a good frequency as now and sometimes it can cause short of a bus from depo.

It’s still 6 months away PTA are running a survey which one can participate in @ https://www.buildingfortomorrow.wa.gov ... burn-link/, all 3 operators and some private concerns should be running the rapid bus service every 30-60 seconds some would be all stops and some would be express to the city based on previous large shutdowns. Minister Saffioti did mention they would look at running an express bus from Cockburn station across to Armadale station I do believe that’s heavily based on the ANRLB being complete so the buses can skip 3 sets of traffic lights in Cockburn they have options also pretty sure the smart freeway tech can be adapted to allow for lane filtering into a temporary bus lane

As much as I would like to see a bold initiative like this to ease the pain of the shutdown, given Bus Priority is typically in-name-only in Perth, it's probably wishful thinking to think they'd cordon off a lane on the freeway for the rail replacement services. Hope I'm wrong, though!

Valid point however it would also require bus drivers either trying to merge at Russell road or using the new Mounts Bay road entrance to EQBS I’m sure MRWA & PTA will find a workable solution that takes advantage of the smart freeway tech. December is usually a more quite period on the TP calendar so patronage should be much lower. Trains will probably run every 10/15 minutes to Rockingham then every 30/45 minutes to Aubin Grove PTA seems to be a big fan of bi-directional flexibility could use both tracks and still maintain 15/20 minute headways to Aubin Grove

Looks like one of them elevated subway stations in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. I presume this station will have fare fares installed like all new generation ones.

PDPs are up for both Armadale line projects on the metronet website
While we're all celebrating the opening of the Airport Line, bear in mind the completion of TCL and the major works to Armadale Line including the new Byford station have been pushed back for at least another year.
a test train has been scheduled to depart Cockburn station platform 3 running to Carlisle and return for this Monday the 20th approximately around 4AM the train will be running until 2PM then return to Nowergup

About time.
The test train is scheduled to arrive at Cockburn station platform 3 approx 00:50 crossing to the Thornlie line from the Mandurah line however this could change
Metronet has basically confirmed today in the latest March update that train services will resume on the Thornlie Cockburn Line before Armadale/Byford as to what that’ll look like guessing we won’t know until May or June
The Premier and the Transport Minister have announced that the section between Cockburn and Perth via Thornlie will reopen on the 9th of June.
Officially the last person to tag off the 381 - 20/5/16.
Second last person to tag off the last timetabled 16 - 23/08/19.
Last person to tag off a Transdev Joondalup service - 19/1/20.

Well, I suppose there goes my 1.5 years of free travel using my Smart Rider. All good things have to end so that something better can happen.
Thornlie-Cockburn line trains will stop at Beckenham with the last remaining express patterns withdrawn which will maintain an enhanced “turn up and go service” between Cannington & the city with the introduction of the Cannington shuttle
Carlisle will become a bus transfer station
Enviro 500 wrote:I thought Thornlie trains couldn't stop at Beckenham due to the station being too close to the tunnel entrance.
Carlisle has 38 within walking distance just as Noranda has 350.
The station as part of the rebuilt was moved to the northern side of William street so no more split platforms and is a little bit further north from the junction. Because there’s no more level crossings between Perth & Kenwick the frequency and capacity can be increased and rationalised in the inner core of the Armadale line it’s unclear what any of this will look like and perhaps there’s additional changes and enhancements to the proposed service changes that haven’t been announced yet hence why Carlisle is being upgraded to an interchange stop. The removal of the C# & B# patterns makes sense and has logic behind it now
