Trux TX16G - Denning Denair Monocoach

Post by Brian Rowney »

I recently bought a Trux TX16G model, in Deluxe Coachlines livery. Over the past few years, I've bought several Trux models from a dealer here in the UK, and I like to find out something about the history of the real vehicles. This one is (5) SAN.257, and I've not been able to find anything about it. According to the Bus Australia historic listing for Deluxe Coachlines, fleet number 5 was a Domino Tourmaster DC122, rego IT 5492 and not a Monocoach. The current list only shows one Denair and that had fleet number 6.

Courtesy of the Sydney Bus Museum, I've got a USB stick with all the issues of Fleetline. FL80 has an early fleet list for Deluxe, which includes a Denning Denair Mono with rego IT 8215 and no fleet number. FL88 has another list, showing IT 8215 as having been reregistered 6MM.287 but still no fleet number. However, that list shows that Tourmaster IT 5492 was re-registered 6EP.870, but it had fleet number 3 (not 5).

A later issue (FL100) records Denair 6MM.287 as being sold to Hussey, Deniliquin, but it is listed with fleet number 6, which does tie in with the Bus Australia historic list. Rego SAN.257 doesn't match with anything on the Bus Australia list.

So, is the identity of the Trux model real, or did Deluxe Coachlines have other Denning Monocoaches that I've not been able to identify? All the other Trux Dennings (one Landseer DD, and several other Monos) do have the correct identities, so I'd be surprised if this one was made up.
