Brisbane City Council bus driver apologises in court after death of young cyclist

Post by zto305 »

W1428 collided with an e-scooter yesterday afternoon peak 23/4, causing significant delay and diversion of network around the Gabba.

Other than that, here is another similar case happened in 2021. We seem haven't got any solution or improvement on crazy cyclists rushing across traffic lanes...

The only way this will improve is proper segregation of cyclists from motorists (and pedestrians), or where it is absolutely essential cycle paths intersect roads, that additional priority measures are given to them, which should alleviate some of the reckless behaviour we witness (including with pedestrians) ,from those who do not wish to wait half an eternity for a light cycle at every intersection.

I think the latter is the crux of the issue - cyclists and pedestrians have to wait an extraordinary amount of time for their turn at some intersections, and as with cars, you witness increasingly dangerous and/or impatient manoeuvres the more congested the intersection.

Yes if they can read the signs. It's not difficult to see a scooter, private car, or even human pestestrian running on the busway. It happens around Cultural Centre everyday!
