Nope, industrial areas and transport deserts are apparently the only options. Even the three or so TOMRA/Coles reverse vending machines hide outside in the car park instead of being in-store, while NIMBYs complain about the four parking spaces that were removed to put the thing there, even though the machine was located nowhere near the building.

Meanwhile in Ireland, even Aldi has reverse vending machines.

Speaking of Aldi, we've got two of their dumped trolleys some lazy bugger has left on one of our worksites, on top of the shopping cart it has the usual "Call this number if you have found this trolley abandoned" so I did, you have to listen to a pre-recorded message go through 1000 useless non-irreverent information about other crap before it then reaches the next recorded section about reporting abandoned trolleys "To report an abandoned trolley, please go to aldi.com/au and fill out a form".

Seriously? I had to listen to all that just to then get told go to their website (not mentioned on the trolley).

What is even worse is one can't even call the local store as all Aldi's just come up with the 1300 number (the same number used to report ditched trolleys). I just don't have the time to fill out a report, I've got 500 other things on the job to manage and the whole reason for calling them or wanting to reach a live person was to tell them if they don't come and collect it we'll consider it illegal dumping (which technically it already is) and we'll be pursing the matter with council if they don't get off their rear end and collect it.

*sigh*

When I was getting my morning coffee at McDonalds this morning, an entitled idiot threw a tantrum, because there was no skim milk, the poor girl told her politely that the delivery had not yet arrived, but the tantrum continued until she was thrown out.

My eldest daughter told my wife that had won a weekend away from the motel group she worked for and would we choose the unit for her but it was just a surprise for our anniversary.

Recently when I stopped at a red light I saw the motel and thought I would take a photo of it so I took it off the charger and got fined for using my phone in school holidays.

Stupid, stupid, stupid me.

Their model was originally to pass on prices based off lower overheads from a utilitarian style but have gradually raised prices of everyday items to almost match the duopoly and making their stores look swankier to justify it.
They must have figured Aussies are more attracted to pomp over savings.
You have to watch the size of their packaging too. They are often smaller, which makes them look like a bargain when they are not.

The $3000 EV rebate by the NSW Government. That 3000 goes straight to Musk’s and Chinese automanufacturers pockets. If you multiply it by the number of private vehicle regos in NSW it’s some stupid amount in the billions. Then there’s that EV driver not paying fuel excise while damaging the road exponentially more than everyone else. It’s unbelievable how rebates for motorists (like the toll ones that go straight to Transurban) get no coverage, or positive coverage by the media, yet a cost blowout on a public transport project to improve the situation gets universally negative coverage.

I doubt there’s many people who would’ve an ICE vehicle had the rebate not been available. Most people have probably already made up their minds when buying one and given the cost of EVs, no one on a lower income where a rebate might help, is going to buy one. Surely the relatively wealthy can spare an extra $3000?

I’m glad that the program ended this year but I do wonder how much was wasted on it.

Funny that GM scrambled to remove their promising electric cars from circulation in the 1990s - see Who Killed The Electric car, and now the world is pushing them on us. Both scenarios smack of a sinister plot by corporates to screw everybody over.

My brother had 5 hybrids and if I ever bought a car it would be a hybrid not full electric.

Both America and Australia are buying ICE cars because that is what most people want and keep using the cheap fuel we are using because Aussies are broke.

A guy of Indian appearance pulled into Kincumber village in this Toyota Corolla hybrid sedan I've never seen before with an Uber sign on the back window. They are a smart vehicle to have. He had this constant smile on his face. Beware of people like that. Most Uber drivers are slightly insane. This presumably grey import of a car not sold in Australia looked pretty good though I hope he can get spare parts for it to keep it running and spare body panels should something hit it.

I saw a Toyota corolla hybrid taxi in Tasmania two years ago and he said it was great.

Why does Channel 9 and its spinoffs (Gem etc.) keep advertising religious nutjobs as soon as the sun goes down? Not even 7 stoops that low, instead they spam infomercials about ear wax, and 7 is the worst FTA in Australia (thankfully Sky isn't free).

FTA is as dead to me as is dial-up Internet in this country, the best I might still do with FTA is ABC News 24 (can be watched via Youtube within Australia) or the occasional documentary. Only one Television in the house still gets FTA, the rest are unplugged from the aerial and if anyone wants anything, it's straight to the Internet for On Demand Media instead of the networks deciding when and what time they'll show it.

As for your question, probably because that is how the old saying goes, the weirdos come out after the sun has set. Now people would be home from work at that time, resting and or relaxing, have the TV on and or in the background, chances are if your not accessing on demand media then it's on with the FTA content blasting off. The networks have done their research and know this is the prime time slot to air such content.

They lost me as a major viewer around 2011-2012 when they stopped producing good Australian made drama & comedy shows & opted for those scripted "The Block" & romance shows. Unfortunately for us, the networks decided it's cheaper and there is an percentage mandate that they have to air locally made content, that mandate doesn't specify what it has to be so as long as it's done here, it complies even through it is garbage and low quality tier content.

Russel Howcroft on the 3AW Breakfast show and his stupid giggling and laughing. Ross Stevenson is not like he used to be either.
Might be switching over the the ABC before too long.

Also the new 3AW Drive host, Jacqui Felgate is terrible.

3AW has gone to the dogs since they were bought out by Channel 9.

Cross media ownership rules relaxed has led to this.
One shining light on the Sydney front is Mike Jefferies return midnight to dawn on 2GB. He's one of the more incisive and clever talk show hosts.
I remember first listening to him on 2UE in 1987 when I couldn't sleep. He sounds exactly the same and is very underrated. After him came the late Stan Zumanek doing midnight to dawn shifts before he started his popular and at times controversial night time slot in the 1990s.

A government-issued Proof of Age Card (aka photo card) issued by an Australian state or territory is not accepted as ID online in Australia as it is not a driver's license. Why the F do I need a car in order to set up an online bank account?

Or, specifically, why the F I need to walk into a VicRoads office, which has the same useless trading hours as a bank, go $20 out-of-pocket (probably more these days, but that's what it cost in 2010), pass no less than 25 tests without stepping foot inside a car (most of which are alcohol- or drug-related and not driving-related), and walk out five minutes later with a card that looks identical to a Victorian Government Proof of Age card except it says Learner Permit on it and is accepted online.

The nearest one to me is in the undercover shopping centre carpark. Seems the best location for it.

Mobile applications that for some blase reason auto-sign you out of your logged in accounts after a period of time, even if you have the remember me box ticked (which just means every time upon relaunching the application your signed back in without needing to enter your password)

So far my Return & Earn application & My smart kit application have done this. No warning that my session is expiring and next time I'll need to re-log in.

Notifications exist for a reason so how about if this is some security or token system they use, just a friendly heads up that you'll need to log back in within the next 24 hours otherwise your session will expire and require you to reenter your password to stay logged in.

The Kebab place I went to yesterday on my work-break that took my payment for a chicken snack-pack to only then inform me after I paid (via card) that they ran out of chicken meat, I'm not joking.

Why can staff not communicate anymore and pass the message on prior to someone ordering that their out of stock on a type of meat? Really poor to still be taking orders for something if they've long ran out.

Won't be returning there again (I did get my money back but in the form of a physical cash, and on top of that, lost time to get anything to find anything else for my lunch break so didn't get to eat again until 6PM. )

People gawking at me as they walk past our place. We live in a main thoroughfare with a see through wire fence and people regularly stare in as they walk past. A glance is OK but some turn their head from across the street as their walking and even look back as they're going while I'm pottering around my garden. It's a funny behaviour and I'm sure they wouldn't appreciate the same if I did it to them.
I'm at the end of my tether and have thought up ideas like putting up mesh but it's too expensive.
It helps vindicate my tendency not to socialise and mix with people. So many arseholes out there with foul natures.
