Re: Rail and private operator observations 2023
Saw an unrego'd Bustech electric bus (ZDi most likely) turning out of Kiln Street on Darra today. Wonder what it was doing there and who's it's going to be.
Re: Rail and private operator observations 2023
it look like Transdev run also shuttle from Carindale (Saw a lot transdev bus at Old Cleveland rd coorparoo). Before i thought it only run by TFB carina.
Re: Rail and private operator observations 2023
it look like Clark logan change their number desto size with bigger size but the destination place font goes smaller. (Altough i dont really like the number size font on new desto especially the desto size is 140 x 16. I prefer old number desto or like the one that they use transperth new bus). However i only seen it on B12ble Bustech. Not sure it installed on their volgren bus and their B8.
Re: Rail and private operator observations 2023
Just passed an ex BCC Scania L94UB on a rail replacement route to kurraby. Was one that was transferred to wide bay transit but sadly didn’t get a look at the rego. Still had Wide Bay decals on the side so unsure if it’s been transferred back to possibly Thompsons or a different operator.

Re: Rail and private operator observations 2023
I'd be surprised if a bus with a new owner was getting around fully sign-written for its previous operator. Someone else mentioned to me that ex 803 was spotted in the City yesterday, perhaps that was it?
Re: Rail and private operator observations 2023
Wide bay have been doing rail replacement in a Brisbane a few times. It's still their bus. Most likely 120 as there have been photos of it.
Previous rail works weekends have seen 124 (denning) and 135 (B8RLE Bustech) also travel down for the weekends.

I know this is a bit of an odd thing to post here but does anyone who lives near Caboolture Bus Lines' service area know where it normally runs NCBC-bodied buses? I've been wanting to archive some, given how poorly WBC's units are ageing and wanting a CBL experience to compare.

I always have quite a lot of luck on weekday Morayfield-Caboolture feeder services (such as 65x routes), double check on anytrip and they're quite common in my experience

Thompsons has recently installed tablets on their buses similar to Hornibrook underneath the DCU. This one was spotted on 008GJT today.

Kinetic Cairns 2636 was involved in a minor collision yesterday (30/10/2023) morning on an inbound 110. It happened just past Lily Street on Sheridan Street around 7am. Minor damage was sustained to the back left panel and front panel.

Anyone have any info regarding what Wide Bay Transit fleet #142 might be (chassis/body)?

A Logan Coaches bus was involved in a crash with a truck on the Pacific Motorway at Beenleigh. Don't know what number bus it was.

Re: Rail and private operator observations 2023
“The Queensland government has named Scania Australia and Volvo Group Australia as the preferred builders for 200 new rail replacement buses. Volgren will build 165 Euro 6 diesel buses on Volvo chassis and BusTech will build 35 Euro 6 diesel buses on Scania chassis. The vehicles will be used to replace trains in the South East Queensland (SEQ) rail network, during times of trackwork or other disruptions. Delivery of the first bus is expected in March 2024 and the entire 200 buses by the end of next year. The department of transport will own the buses and can deploy them more flexibly across SEQ, rather than use contracted operators.”
Just saw this on a news page, does this mean thompsons new fleet of rail replacement buses which is meant to still be used for 10 more years are now completely useless after these new buses are in service?

Likely getting in before the 2025 election promise of every new bus being a ZEB. 200 new diesel buses should buy operators a couple of years in fleet retirements to sort out how they will electrify (or implement hydrogen perhaps) their fleets/depots.

Re: Rail and private operator observations 2023
That or their 2025 thought bubble has been quietely abandoned... for instance, why are ethanol buses being trialled up north when they still produce emissions? Seems contradictory to their goal.

Thought provoking announcement indeed. I wonder which fleets will be picking them up. No one single operator has enough space for that many right?

Re: Rail and private operator observations 2023
It almost sounds like the Government plans to move them around, rather than being based with any one operator.
Re: Rail and private operator observations 2023
Anyone know the unit number for these? Appears to be ex Sunbus/Kinetic.
