Nothing, except that it's woefully inefficient for them to provide that service...

Sadly, it seems Toowong does not have any buses wrapped up in anything special for the 86. Observed T2812 and one other B8RLE on it, both in standard livery.daveeyh wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 11:43 pm New thread for the new year.
Looking forward to the new South Brisbane loop Route 86 commencing on 23 January 2023 - wondering if there will be a special wrap for the buses on this loop like the purple City Loop buses (6001-6004) and yellow Spring Hill Loop buses (1065, 1066).

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2023
I have a strong itch the 86 will suffer the same fate as the 480. I've been on it a few times and it hasn't been wonderfully utilised.

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2023
There doesn't seem to have been much (if any) promotion of it either.
Then again, one-way loops can be a cumbersome way to move around when they take too long, anything over 20mins in my books.

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2023
the 198 is a highly utilised service, especially over peak hour, weekends and is often moderately busy throughout non-peak hours - despite the speculation.
Then again the 86 serves a viable route, utilisation may increase over time as people discover it?
Ashgrove routes 373/377, along with 354 may be up for the cut, with severe underutilisation even during peak hour.

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2023
There would have to be better ways to service that area, I would think, than making people endure that full loop (40mins worth, right?) running at the abysmal, inconsistent timings it does. It shouldn't be anything but busy given the amount of people around the South Brisbane area.IHateSherwood wrote: ↑Tue Jun 13, 2023 2:00 pm the 198 is a highly utilised service, especially over peak hour, weekends and is often moderately busy throughout non-peak hours - despite the speculation.

btw i just realize that in anytrip. they updated the information for TFB vehicle and decided not showing their depo anymore but only model, chasis and fleet number. (however the BZL volvo they still not put the vehicle details).

I saw. But finally B8s have their model. Depot changes too much so I understand why they decided to do it.

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2023
Is that likely because Translink is transitioning to a new real time information system, hence, different information/data being transferred and available for apps to show?pasha241 wrote:btw i just realize that in anytrip. they updated the information for TFB vehicle and decided not showing their depo anymore but only model, chasis and fleet number. Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2023
The GTFS-RT feed provides vehicle identifier (generally fleet no) plus position, delay and data of that nature.
Anytrip receives the vehicleid and they must then have a database or something, that they maintain, that then provides the chassis body etc. for the app - it's not received from TransLink.

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2023
some propotion that i found on brisbane council website
Extend the 199 BUZ bus service up to the RBWH
https://www.epetitions.brisbane.qld.go ... w/pid/1238
"Petitions express the views of the Head Petitioner and may not represent the views of Council.
Residents draw to the attention of Council the need to provide a high frequency bus connection from the New Farm/Teneriffe peninsula and Bulimba to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH) and northern busway. Currently, people residing in the New Farm/Teneriffe area wishing to access the RBWH or northern busway have to travel into the CBD then travel back out to access the RBWH and its busway station. The situation is the same for people coming from Bulimba, except their journey has the additional time of ferry travel. Regardless of where you begin the journey, what should be a simple journey of less than 4kms takes anywhere from 40 minutes to over an hour.
Your petitioners therefore request Council works with Translink to extend the existing high frequency 199 BUZ bus service from the Teneriffe ferry terminal to the RBWH. This simple 2.5km extension to the route along Skyring Terrace, Montpelier Road and O'Connell Terrace could utilise existing bus stops resulting in minimal outlay. It would not duplicate the existing 393 bus service as this route uses a less direct route and its infrequent service pattern is of little benefit to those wishing for a quick journey. It would cut the existing journeys from the New Farm/Teneriffe area and Bulimba to the RBWH down to as little as 10 to 20 minutes with the additional benefit of improved connection to northern busway services, Bowen Hills station and future Cross River Rail services."

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2023
It's an interesting proposal, to be fair. I signed it... because I like to see new route alignments. Wonder if any of this will appear in the new network plan due to release this half of the year.pasha241 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 7:06 pm some propotion that i found on brisbane council website

That S1650 apparently crashed and wrecked its front does not help matters, either.
Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2023
Just seen a Hornibrook Buslines Electric Volgren heading towards Toowong on Milton Road. Weird.

Might be for training purposes? I've heard from a Toowong driver that Toowong depot is next to get electrics in their fleet, maybe they are trying them out and don't want to use E's? Could also be heading to Volvo Wacol.
