170, 171 and 172 have been in service for a while now; they are Volvo BZL electric buses with Volgren Optimus body. They seem to be near-identical to the pair of E1596 and E1597 that Brisbane City Council have, to the point of even sharing a similar Translink stock green livery with 173 upwards.

HBL is getting 16 new Volvo BZL’s at the north lakes depot, this will send all current north lakes depot buses up to Clontarf. 170 and 171 are currently the only in service, with 172 seeming to have a fault and heading up to Volvo at Waco today.

I have attached some photos of these, they have been in service since the 5th of May.

Here also is a video I recorded https://youtu.be/0u5MeMzScVw

Many thanks guys. I’m just catching up with the fleet again. I’m guessing some pics of 109-121 may be needed in case they leave the fleet. Wonder if 107 & 108 will now be on borrowed time.

I’ve heard from another driver that they are keeping the L94UB’s and the older O500LE’s, not sure how long though. 107 and 108 have both surprisingly gotten the new smart ticketing system, which is strange because they are meant to retire very soon.

Just seen 170 at Kippa Ring train station working a 698. Will Clontarf get any of these new buses yet or just on type testing? TIA

From what I’ve heard there is 1 BZL at Clontarf at the moment being used for driver training, I think it does do public runs every now and then, and it also does the 6702 school run. It’s strange it’s 170 you saw at kippa, as I’m pretty sure 170 isn’t the BZL that is currently doing driver training over at Clontarf.

Yes Clontarf will not be receiving any BZL’s, unless there is a switch of plans which I doubt there will be, once most of the drivers are trained I’m guessing the 1 BZL at Clontarf will be sent back to North Lakes. All 16 BZL’s going to North Lakes is slightly disappointing as that means we won’t be seeing them do longer runs such as the 680 much at all.

They might be mixing what’s there coz 174 was on a school run at Kippa Ring on Tuesday.
170 has the dark green front so is something strange in a lime green bus environment.

109 has transferred to North Lakes, seen at Petrie and North Lakes bus station recently.
Unless it’s coincidence I’ve seen twice out of the Clontarf area.

Seen new 180 working the 680 at Kippa Ring today. Would this be a Clontarf run or now a north lakes run? Ta

Would be a North Lakes run, North Lakes does do 680’s every now and then, by the way, all 16 BZL’s have now been delivered.

Not sure about that, those older Clontarf buses do appear every now and then in north lakes. North Lakes depot is now meant to be 100% electric and no diesels.

Just seen 185 at Kallangur train station.
Regarding 109, a Clontarf bus wouldn’t park up at Petrie as way out of the area so be interesting if I see it around Redcliffe or not.
With most ex North Lakes buses seen around Redcliffe now I wonder if any have gone elsewhere as surely Clontarf depot can’t hold that many buses?

Hello, have some new updates:

107 & 108 have both been retired from service and will most likely be sold. Pretty sure all buses up to 117 have also been retired from service as well, as they have been unregistered.

109-113 (the Scania L94UBs) are rumoured to be transferred to Link SA. I’ve seen two but not had a chance to get any gen.
