Bus Observations 2023
Re: Bus Observations 2023
Just saw a Busways Penrith brand new all white BYD D9RA Gemilang Eco City Bus, according to the driver they’re considering buying more. I got some good photos with my camera of it which I’ll make sure to post once I get home.

Re: Bus Observations 2023
The bus didn’t show up on tracking and it did not have any busways logos however the driver told me it was a busways bus and I did see it depart on a 677 service

PBC Goulburn's 7517 MO (Scania K280IB/Higer A30) was operating the Saturday morning town service today, which I had not seen for quite a while.

Re: Bus Observations 2023
Busways 1675 has lost its Sta displays and gained a display from a Withdrawn Mercedes High Floor. Its really obvious as the display difference in size is huge.
Also quite a few high floors on weekday work mainly confined to the Mt Druitt routes though 770/4/5/6/80/82

Re: Bus Observations 2023
The Mobitec flip dot display must be better quality then the flip dot display that the STA used for their Scania L113CRL and Volvo B10BLE fleets which would of been a real upgrade on earlier electronic dot matrix desto displays like the one that the UTA trialed on the MK4 prototype in the mid 80sStonesourscotty wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 8:19 pm Busways 1675 has lost its Sta displays and gained a display from a Withdrawn Mercedes High Floor. Yeah it does seem like it. I have the images now but I can’t figure out how to post them on here because of how large they are (6016x4000 pixels)

Re: Bus Observations 2023
Try using an external website image hosting uploader (I sometimes use https://postimages.org/) They give you the option to resize / downscale your pictures before uploading (that part is optional but I'd recommend downsizing them just a tad so visitors don't open to page with a massive image in a post) Then all you need to do is grab the link that ends in the file format like .jpeg / .png / jpg etc and put them in the forums image tag [/img]Image URL GOES HERE[/img] Then preview the post and they should show up.
Hope that helps.

Newcastle Transport all new buses delivered after 1/11/2022 cannot be worked by Newcastle Transport staff for any warranty work it has to be done by Scania staff, there are 2 scania staff based at Hamilton depot, anything they cannot do the bus has to go to Scania

Does that apply to all buses, or just Scanias?

That's fairly typical of most new buses, there's only so much that can be done without voiding the warranty.

Does that mean new Mercedes buses would also go to Scania for servicing?

Re: Bus Observations 2023
Usually. "servicing" and "warranty repairs" are two different issues.
Any qualified mechanic can "service" a vehicle, provided it is done to the mfrs' specifications, without affecting "warranty".

Re: Bus Observations 2023
Since the only new buses affected to date (since 11/22) are the three Bustech ZDi electrics, I doubt Scania will be overtaxed. Presumably Bustech have some arrangement with Scania to perform their warranty work. Which would seem odd since Scania have not yet released their own electrics here.

Re: Bus Observations 2023
Which is what I was going to ask, "well what about the ZDI? as that's another entirely different product and wouldn't it make more sense to send it back to Bustech if it's having any issues facing Scania working on it?".
Guess that answers my question on that I reckon buuuut still curious why Scania and not Volvo through given Volvo's make up 98% of the Newcastle Transport Fleet and they've only ever operated one Scania (ex STA) that's since long gone.

Re: Bus Observations 2023
Busways 338 seen with a School service permanent display with the dot matrix removed assuming that's now apart of 1675
The Nexport at Penrith is numbered 7027 seen it last night on Great Western Highway
555 a highfloor is on all day 775.
More B10BlE arrived at Penrith including one in Nsw Livery?? I'd say 15+ B10 at Penrith plus what looks like a bus in British Army Green in the middle of the depot anyone know that identity?

The Buslines website looks to have been updated.
https://www.buslinesgroup.com.au/
Menu > Our Network, the list of networks now includes Rover, although using the existing Rover logo and linking to https://www.rovercoaches.com.au/

Re: Bus Observations 2023
Which if you do a lookup on the ASIC website of the ABN for Rover Motors Pty Ltd (the registrant of the "rovercoaches.com.au" domain), now shows a head office of Burwood 2134 - which happens to be where the head office of Buslines Group is as listed on their website.Fleet Lists wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 7:23 pm The way they link to the full website makes me think they have taken over the lot.
Given the last change on the ASIC website is described as "Change to Company Details Change to Ultimate Holding Company (484D)" odds are it is a complete takeover.

Re: Bus Observations 2023
Would appear to be an error, Busways 5003 and 5010 are both signwritten as having capacity of 43 seated, 22 standing.tonyp wrote: ↑I am wondering why the Custom Denning Element, which is a 43 seat bus, is shown in Fleetlists as a 43 seater in region 9, but as a 47 seater (suggesting no centre door) with Busways and Transport Canberra. For certain, the Busways buses have a centre door. Just a simple error?
