In accordance with those school changes, there are service changes for a swathe of routes - but apart from route 60 becoming 980, some additional early trips on route 449, additional trips for the 490, and the 491 weekend service being upgraded to hourly, most of the routes are just getting various time changes and/or service cuts.

The 60/980 doesn't operate at 5 minute intervals in the afternoon peak. It's more like 6-8 minutely.

Am sure they were running more frequently in the afternoons a few timetables ago (or perhaps I am mistaken!).

You're right. There was a brief period of 5 minutely services around 4:30pm-5:30pm. Before that it was 15 minutes all day.

When they extended peak frequency to shoulder times the overall frequency dropped. I guess they were spreading the resources out.

The timetables are uploaded for those changes below for 13 November 2022. Look likely the route 376 is now operated by Swan instead by Path, according to the data mentioned earlier.

So 376 now under Joondalup package instead of Morley? Looks like the driver shortage at Keolis Downer is more than meets the eye.

Or perhaps it makes more sense for another area to operate the service. I wonder if any buses were sent to Swan for the 376 or not?

Wonder which buses were spotted on 376 if it were indeed run from JLDEP.

On the same note, it makes a lot more sense for 75 to be managed by Canning package. Can do straight swap with 280.

Is it just me or is the Christmas/New Year service update extremely late?

When checking departure times on the Transperth App it looks like Christmas is sorted with the usual half hourly rail service. On NYE, either the services aren't yet finalised, or there's an error in the departure times. For example, Midland Line Departing Perth Station at 12:00, 12:02, 12:15, 12:30 and then airport line at 12:32. Also looks like the airport line might not run additional services?

My only guess is the Mandurah line shutdown from 26/12-03/01 is complicating matters. That said, if there still isn't certainty what services will look like for this period, that's a big problem.

I wouldn't be surprised to see an 11th-hour "oh by the way" notice go up. This seems to be an increasingly-common occurrence in the past 2-3yrs.

Shouldn't be too long now. Departure times have been updated on the TransPerth App. Airport Line will be operating alongside the Midland Line with the last special service departing High Wycombe at 4:45am. Looks like the last few services won't be running Claremont - Perth.

Yeah I’m really confused by this I have to be at the airport by 7-7:30AM on Boxing Day and the lack of transparency around the holiday schedule is quite confusing i fly back on the 1st and I am not quite sure what to expect I do have an Uber booked however if I had the option of getting the train I would take that

The mention of the standard holiday services not being released has intrigued me, particularly since we are merely a week away from the new year, so I trawled the website myself to find them. Turns out, they are already up. From when, I'm not sure, but they weren't posted in the standard Service Changes slot like every other year - nope, they're under JourneyPlanner > Events. Perhaps that's why everyone managed to gloss over them...

Considering there is a service reduction tomorrow, then additional New Year's services that will presumably be cut if they are underutilised, the "oversight" of not properly advertising these service changes is piss poor.

Looks like the Christmas Day train timetable is calculated by simply dropping every second daytime trip, which leads to some uneven frequencies (up to a 23 minute wait) on the inner Fremantle/Midland lines, a 20-minute wait at Cannington if travelling from Burswood-Queens Park to the outer Armadale Line, and a nearly half-hour wait at Perth to get from Fremantle/Midland to Mandurah/Joondalup. And this is before we get to buses that are timed to connect with the missing trains. Have to wonder how much money they actually save with these cuts relative to the disruption caused, especially in the face of a growing high-frequency bus network that retains its 15 minute frequency and that Good Friday (which previously also used the Christmas timetable) has run a standard public holiday timetable since 2016 or so.

Although if the Christmas Day timetable has to continue, I can't help wonder if they should just mark the deleted trips on the published timetables somehow, instead of the vague "Note that Christmas Day operational times may differ to the Public Holiday times shown on this timetable". It would still be good to have a timely reminder on the website but at least total radio silence wouldn't be actively misleading like it was this year.

One positive though is that TransBunbury routes 841, 843 and 844 seem to now run a standard Sunday service on Christmas day (and Good Friday and ANZAC Day) rather than shutting down completely

Interesting to note the normal sunday timetable on NYD too! Previous years have seen Trains at a 30 min frequency throughout the day
