While beyond the general topic of this thread, I would argue that was more because the two routes are (at times) not coordinated particularly well (the 549 connects with the train at Freo, the 530 does not), and this is further exasperated by the tendency of 530 inbound to Fremantle to suffer substantial delays trying to turn onto Beeliar Dr, and again when crossing Stock Rd. The end result being the 530 and 549 would leapfrog one-another up Rockingham Rd.Enviro 500 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 2:54 pm Both were subsequently downgraded in later years. 920 faced stiff competition from 530 for the Fremantle-Spearwood portion.
While the reduction in service frequency was understandable (given the length of the 920/549 relative to its usage), rather than just wait for a 549 knowing it would arrive soon, passengers now have to figure out which of the four Rockingham Rd services will arrive first, and if it will even stay on Rockingham Rd! That's to say nothing of the erratic service frequencies towards Cockburn (particularly during the afternoon peak).
