Re: Rex Law's Redline Coaches
Good afternoon Glenn, I am just about ready to start reading your book and I am looking forward too it immensely.
In the meantime, you might want to look at an old photo from the newspapers that I have posted regarding a "half submerged AP PD4106".
All the best.

Hi Glen, the "almost floating" PD4106 In the topic, just below this one - it is not a brilliant photo as it is a scan of a newspaper photo, best wishes Tim.

Re: Rex Law's Redline Coaches
Hi all.....
I want to be sure that everyone's aware that my 400 page book "Rex Law's Redline - The biggest Little Bus Co in Australia" is currently available in softcover format at Amazon Australia for AU$43.06 with free shipping. The Kindle E Book version is available for AU$8.36. If any prospective New Zealand purchasers have bought the book from the Amazon Australia site I'd love to know that they were able to do that, or have they been obliged to buy via Amazon's international resources? It seems nuts if NZ purchasers have to deal with Amazon's US location, considering the books are printed locally in Melbourne.
In addition, I'll add a link below to my little video slide show introduction to the book, and in doing so will mention that the very first image is Rex and Beris' rented Kangaroo Point Brisbane home during his secondment with the Allied Works Council during WW2. This was in effect his first backyard vehicle depot, via rear street access for his tipper truck, and further, on a very personal note, the front bedroom to the left of the stairs was where I was born!

The stubborn mule still refuses to use Amazon or Kindle, and am hoping one may show up in a relevant traditional book shop.
Think for yourself, while it's still legal !

Hey Centralian
You can walk into virtually any substantive bricks and mortar bookstore and order a copy....
It shouldn't take long for them to get it in, while the price will depend on the store I guess.

No 24, the very first air conditioned Denning coach.
Note Denning's first full width rear upper air chute which was complementary to the a/c installation.
Unsuccessful, however that's a longer story.....
Note also, the first ever installation of individual Admac reclining seats.

Re: Rex Law's Redline Coaches
Hi Robert,
I apologize for going AWOL, but am happy to say I'm still around and have been leaning more towards personal family matters, which I can only say have been uplifting and joyful.....
Writing the book kept me away from other pursuits but I'm certainly not complaining. I set out to provide my first hand historical observations of the family company and the industry as it was, along with associated researched information that I hope has given those interested an enjoyable and enlightening read.
I'm proud of the completed work, while I do acknowledge there are errors here and there. However I'm sure many latter day bus/coach industry enthusiasts now have a deeper understanding of the vibrant 'way it was' as compared with Australia's sophisticated yet emasculated long distance coach travel/touring landscape today.
Thank you very much for reaching out Robert... I do appreciate it.
Kind regards,
Glenn

Re: Rex Law's Redline Coaches
Is the National Timetable Collection in Melbourne a physical collection of actual historical timetables...? I have some that should be in that collection, in addition to the above.Industry wrote: ↑Mon Apr 11, 2022 11:25 am 277786667_2175690665915158_8056321160749621998_n.jpg277786667_2175690665915158_8056321160749621998_n.jpg Glenn going thru a friend estate and thought these my interest you. How do I get in touch with the collection curators?

Re: Rex Law's Redline Coaches
I have a question.
In 1968 or 1969 I took my first 3 week holiday since leaving school. I chose a camping tour from Sydney to tropical Nth QLD to Cooktown and back. I still have some great memories and a number of photos from that holiday (including images of our Redline Coach) that I would be only too happy to share if anyone is interested.
My question is, does anyone have a brochure of those camping tours, especially the one I went on. I think the fare was $300 including the camping gear for the 3 week trip, but it may have been a lot cheaper, I just can’t remember.
I am looking forward to hearing from none about it. I took the trip alone and I think I was the youngest on board so I don’t expect to hear from anyone that was on the same tour.
I have seen a couple of pics of the first stop at Kangy Angy and that bought back one memories too.

Of course we are all interested.
This is the longest running thread on the ATDB.
I can not help with brochures from Redline but do have brochures from my Fathers company.
Can you post a picture of the coach ?
Do you know the drivers name ?
There are not a lot of ex Redline drivers left.
Regards Robert

Re: Rex Law's Redline Coaches
Can anyone tell me if there was any connection between Rex Law's Redline concern and Panther Bus Lines - and where were Panther Bus Lines based?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
Re: Rex Law's Redline Coaches
They were owned by Barnes Transport Industries in Melbourne and before they finished up by Golden Fleece. If you search Parlorcars/Panther in this site you will find more info on their history.
