Toy Artics in Big W.

Post by Swift »

These appear to be roughly based on the Mercedes Citaro.
I would have considered buying one if they didn't have the extra axle at the rear.
Note all the doors. This points to it being the expected amount these days.

Look at all the doors!

Would get the Tonyp tick of approval. Was it low floor throughout?

Going by the gap behind the back door (for possible mechanical or cooling components), it should be but it looks like they omitted that feature throughout!
Those black dashes you see above the doors are actually knurled wheels that open and shut the doors. It also has friction drive. I would have loved this as a little kid.

That is based on a real model, the Mercedes-Benz CapaCity, basically a longer Citaro artic with an extra axle and one or two extra doors.

I also have one of these and I did get it a while back for $8 also from Big W, picked up the red one and I'm yet to take it out of its packaging as I really have no where to put it otherwise it is an okay looking bus, the changeable destination board is a really nice addition and something that isn't seen much.

If it didn't have that extra axle at the back, I'd be tempted myself. It's the Bustech CDi of artics to my eyes.

It's two years later and I came across more at Casey's Toys and Models at Erina yesterday.

You mean my post led someone to go in and deplete the stock? I must evaluate whether to do such a post next time...

Doesn't surprise me that a bus enthusiast would stoop to that behaviour. Probably a profiteer.

I've actually got one of those Teama "Scania" a like buses, the one posted in Swifts post looks more like a condensed MIDI version of it, I have the red one which is pictured on the box with the destination instead being "988 Shopping Centre".

I purchased mine from Toyworld back in 2016-2017, less than $20 but I don't recall the exact figure, there should be a blue one to go alongside it and possibly white but I opted for the red as out of all of them it looked much nicer, otherwise nothing too exciting, just an unlicensed toy using a Scania front & end, it's nice but I'd rather opt for actual licensed products.

I once bought a plastic toy bus of the same scale based on a London Merlin very cheaply. Wish I bought a few of those.
