To start off

Moreland Bus Lines have acquired 2 new gemilangs (BS06JX and BS06JY) for route service. Also the first Gemilang I’ve seen with the Mercedes Benz 0500LE chassis

Also 3 new Panorama Volgren Optimuses have entered service in PTV livery just a few days ago (according to the fleet lists page)

I'm reading that Victorian Touring Coaches and Latrobe Valley Bus Lines have changed ownership in the last month or so, yet no mention to date on this page. A sad decline of a great place for sourcing the latest news. :-(
Think for yourself, while it's still legal !

Hi,
Latrobe Valley Buslines is now part of the Dineen group
Victorian Touring Coaches have folded, the older vehicles not under lease have gone to Nuline/Bayside group , the newer vehicles to be auctioned.
Nuline/ Bayside took over the school runs still using the VTC name

From Sunday 30 May 2021, two new bus routes will connect residents in Tarneit, Truganina and Tarneit West with V/Line train services at Tarneit Station and Metro train services at Williams Landing and Werribee stations.

Route 152 Tarneit Station - Williams Landing Station via Palmers Road travels from Tarneit Station, along Derrimut Road, Leakes Road, Bolivar Esplanade, Sayers Road, Palmers Road, Overton Road, Woodbury Street and on to Williams Landing Station. It travels the same journey in reverse.

Route 182 Werribee Station - Tarneit Station via Tarneit West travels from Werribee Station along Manly Street, Market Road, Railway Avenue, Tarneit Road, Hogans Road (express on Wootten Road and Bethany Road), Davis Road, Leaks Road, Derrimut Road and onto Tarneit Station. It travels the same journey in reverse. The route will be amended in early 2022 following the completion of the bridge on Hogans Road.

Both bus routes will operate seven days a week and run in general every 40 minutes interpeak and on weekends with improved frequencies during the peak and will coordinate with the train timetable at Tarneit Station. Route 182 also provides passengers with access to Werribee Town centre via Werribee Station.

Does anybody know what's behind the massive influx of late model two axle Scanias and Volvos into the Firefly fleet?

Their fleet size seems to have jumped from 16 to 27 in a short space of time.

Have they taken over another charter operator and are using these ex auction units for an upgrade, or are they simply getting deeper into the general charter market?

That would almost be an argument for a sub depot closer to the school.

I have noticed that Crown have been applying fleet numbers recently, sighted a BCI Merc numbered in the 800's and a Rosa in the 700's so they may be issuing numbers based on vehicle types.

Caught a classic high floor 1993 Austral Metroliner rail replacement bus (Nuline 52, 5862AO) on the Lilydale line today, the COVID check-in QR code was BBQ FFS.

Latrobe Valley Bus Lines will be taking a Volvo BZL electric (presumably Volgren bodied) under the Victorian ZEB program.

More clarification of the electric bus rollout.

https://www.busnews.com.au/industry-new ... s-victoria

So they're not all coming from Volgren. That would explain the Custom Denning Element at Sunbury.

Last night Murray Rd. was closed at Preston Station. The driver of the route 903 bus I was on wasn't made aware until he was in the right turn lane at St Georges Rd. when the construction workers waved him to detour. He radioed control and got the advice to make a left turn into Murray Rd. (from the right turn lane at centre), left into Gilbert Rd., left into Bell St., left into High St. then right into Murray Rd. It appeared that buses in the opposite direction were advised of the same detour. Either drivers or their controller of route 527 had better local knowledge and detoured via Cramer St.

School bus crash: Two teens seriously injured, dozens treated by paramedics

Two teenage girls were seriously injured and five students were cut from the wreckage of a “nightmare” crash north of Melbourne in which a truck collided with a bus.

Last evening at approx. 18:30 a high floor bus was sighted in Lonsdale St. It only has a front door, B10M, all over white, blank destination.

Don't know if it was a recent episode or not, but an old Bedford(?) motorhome (rego EFI290) just featured on Aussie Salvage Squad on 7mate. Unfortunately it was dragged straight to the scrapyard as the owner had no intention on doing anything with it after it sat unused for nearly twenty years. While the number plate dates from the early 90s, this was a 60s/70s style bus with aluminium panels and a large panther painted on the side.

The Panther might mean it was ex Broadmeadows Bus Service as they had that in their livery back in the days.

I had a ride on route 472 today. A thumb up for their choice of bus layout with so many latitudal seats and yet still having wheel chair spaces. I don't know what's wrong with some operators who chose the layout with all longtitudal seats on the left side.
