Re: Victorian Route and Timetable Changes 2022
Some small timetable changes in the Yarra Valley on Jan 30.
The substantially overlapping 673 will also be scrapped. However as it's a Mon - Fri only route the Saturday date given for the last trip is wrong.

For those who didn't bother clicking the link, the aforementioned Yarra Valley changes are all regional rather than suburban - 683 Warburton, 684 Eildon and 685 Healesville.
Hopefully the bus(es?) used on the 673 go to better use, although I wouldn't hold my breath for any significant Ventura reform, especially after the Night Bus changes. I'm kind of surprised that the equally-useless 745 wasn't canned at the same time.

As part of Australian Open, from today for 2 weeks, route 30 will not run and will be replaced by a diverted route 12, identical to the COVID arrangements in second half 2020.

A Mornington Peninsula mini-review has just been announced. In short:
Route 781 extended to Dromana. Same generally hourly frequency.
Route 887 rerouted and made into an express service to Boneo Rd. Hourly weekdays, every 2 hours weekends.
Route 787 will be shortened and simplified with eastern portion cut out. Hourly weekdays, every 2 hours Saturdays. Limited hours.
New Rosebud FlexiRide will replace eastern part of 887 and all of Route 886. Weekdays only with 3:45pm finish.

Overall it's a simplification of the network but operating hours remain short for those away from the 788 or the extended 781.

Re: Victorian Route and Timetable Changes 2022
That's a win for residents of sleepy Safety Beach, which will now have 3 buses per hour between the 781 & 788, a significant increase on the 40/50 minute intervals on the 788 alone that it had until recently.
I haven't examined the timetable in detail, but given that the 887 is around 20 minutes faster than the 788, there will probably be some instances where you can miss a 788 at Frankston, then catch a later 887 to Dromana to get ahead of it.
Some years ago there was a proposal following one of the bus network reviews to operate the main 788 service express between Dromana and Frankston, and extend the 781 for intermediate journeys. The downside of that would be that local trips to/from Mornington may be quite slow due to the 781's indirectness through Mount Martha.

Victorian Route and Timetable changes 2022
With Sunday 30 January being the final day of operation of Transdev Melb, is it known if Kinetic are going to use a ‘trendy’ operating name? If the vehicles are eventually going to be branded as Kinetic, will it mean much to the average passenger?
Re: Victorian Route and Timetable changes 2021
Their website, under brands, just gives 'Kinetic (Melbourne)'.timetable gunzel wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 11:49 pm With Sunday 30 January being the final day of operation of Transdev Melb, is it known if Kinetic are going to use a ‘trendy’ operating name? Unlike some big operators (obsessed about rebranding everything to the group brand), Kinetic seems to take a minimalist 'umbrella' approach, leaving the local brands they take over alone.
They couldn't have kept Transdev Melbourne but it looks as if they've again gone the most minimalist approach in Kinetic Melbourne.
A certain amount needs to be spent on rebranding but keeping it low key and concentrating most effort on substantial service matters is a good way to gain goodwill and help win back patronage. Being in a position to safely deliver the full timetable is probably No 1 before considering how to implement what was promised in their bid.
The average passenger, unless they are observant, might hardly notice the changeover, though there are the current (inherited) difficulties involving driver availability and temporary timetables.

There's often far too much emphasis on branding, and extremely pretentious corporate nomenclature - think of what some operators call their training schools, and the terminology around their workforce as one example. None of it affects the end product, unless there is a business-wide focus on the passenger. When the business focus is not upon the passenger, or even the staff's enjoyment, all of this is just window dressing.

Pakenham and Cranbourne services will again stop at one of the MATH stations, Malvern, from February 13 after a hiatus of how many years?
Frankly, what a silly idea.

It's logical to axe the City section of route 684 but it's disappointing that no extra Eildon trips are run.

Re: Victorian Route and Timetable Changes 2022
Perhaps this will allow route 518 to be deleted and the resource (one bus) redeployed on route 517.
Re: Victorian Route and Timetable Changes 2022
A secondary bus interchange will open at Hoppers Crossing on June 26 on the southern / Princes Hwy side of the station. This follows the removal of the Old Geelong Rd level crossing last December and pedestrian footbridge opening in February.
Route 153 will solely use the new stops, while Route 498 will stop on both sides of the line.
A new timetable for Route 498 adds about 4 mins to access the new stops plus the longer path via the new road overpass. It would appear trips might still through-route into Route 181 for one-seat access to Werribee Plaza, although layovers are now shorter or non-existent.
Timetables for other routes will also be adjusted to allow for additional walking time to the bus bays.
The previously announced updates due to the new Geelong Line timetable also commence the same date.
