Wentworth Point has this to connect to Rhodes:

(NSW's only all-door loading bus service, shhhh!)

But that is not really part of the public transport system.

Not TfNSW's system, but it's open to anybody, so it's public transport.

If that happens then the Royal Agricultural Society would have to buy the old Showground witch is now the Moore Park entertainment quarter back from the current owners for the Easter show as the Olympic Park precinct includes the Sydney Showground

The sports facilities are still there, and a number of major events are regularly held in the various facilities there during the year.

Not just housing, but potential for more commercial use as well.

A matter of interpretation.
"Not comitted" does not mean cancel. I think the minster kept the door open to commit to it at a later date.

Not a surprise.
The numbers were always going to be difficult to stack up once it was determined that building housing on the Camelia site wasn't going to happen.

It’s pretty disappointing but the area will still be getting Metro West in a similar time frame to when PLR Stage 2 was originally forecast to be delivered

Reading the SMH paper this morning, it is stated by David Elliot as the reason given as 'we are too busy fixing the ferries, and the other trams, to think about a line extension that wouldn't be ready until at least 2025'. To think that they don't have enough brains to build perway and rollingstock at the same time. They sure have enough marketers though.

It was under discussion in the early stages but like all of stage 2 it was never a firm plan.

The logic is cracked trams and floppity manly ferries means they are too busy to extend the light rail whilst fixing these issues. That's their logic, at least.

You would think he was on the tools himself. Reality is that a degree of belt tightening is inevitable over the next few years, and that some of the lesser infrastructure projects will fall by the wayside.

I think the grandiose Constance plans are a thing of the past. Also keep in mind that the elections are now just over 12 months away so the first priority is to get existing problems fixed if they want to get reelected.

I'm glad distractions have cropped up and put out on hold. Gives hope they won't end up proceeding with that daft plan and maybe build one to Macquarie instead.

Which should have been the first priority with the route via Eastwood as recommended in Parramatta City Council's original feasibility study, but completely ignored when TfNSW took over the planning. It wasn't even on the shortlist of options for some strange reason. Instead we've ended up with a line cut short at Carlingford with little to no prospect of it being extended to Epping, let alone Macquarie Park.

I'd settle with punching the light rail through to Carlingford proper.

And then maybe a distinct Olympic Park line that runs
Rhodes-Wentworth Park-(Newington)-Olympic Park

And if you determine you never want to reuse the Olympic Park rail alignment, onto Lidcombe

Though personally I'd prefer a metro running Bankstown- Lidcombe- Olympic Park over that track, put the plans seem to prefer a Parramatta hub for future metros.

The map is taken from the Western Sydney Light Rail Feasibility Study Part 2 undertaken on behalf of Parramatta City Council in 2013. It disappeared off the council's website shortly after TfNSW took over the planning. Strangely, it didn't even make the shortlist of options.

Will be interesting to see the final result when its all completed in 2023 (if all goes to plan).

Based on my current understanding, the Camellia to Carlingford section looks like it’s ready for rolling stock testing. Is this correct? Or are the wires not up yet? It almost looks like they could open it in 2 stages if they wanted to, Camellia to Carlingford then Camelia to Westmead.
From memory as a guard, most of the passengers who used the carlingford line were traveling between Rydalmere and Carlingford, so it wouldn’t be the worst idea…
