So was strike action inevitable after the agreement was due to expire?? Inevitable inconvenience and disruption for the public?
What is wrong with wanting to be paid fairly and appropriately for work you perform?
That's not the point. The point is if they had to strike this deal with the RTBU where you had two classes of pay for the same employees, should this privatisation have even taken place, knowing there would be inevitable grievance and industrial action?
It was touted as having no detrimental effect on services.
Just goes to show our arrogant style of leadership in this state.

I vehemently disagree. You'd be hard pressed to find similar jobs across Australia with identical pay and conditions.

Different drivers may be working charter (hats off to them, it's a tricky gig!), school buses, route buses or some combination thereof.

Different depots have differences in quality and quantity of passengers.

Between different operators there are differences in policies and procedures. E.g. at some a driver will sweep (sometimes mop) and fuel their buses, at others there are refuellers and cleaners.

Then of course you have the physical workforce. Some drivers are better than others at their job; they're more diligent with reporting defects and onroad issues, they care about the passengers, and endeavour to be polite.

With all these nuances in mind, there's no reason, by my thinking, why all operators should pay the same. If you want good staff, you'll pay them well and look after them (but not when they're blatantly engaged in misconduct). An operator more concerned about the bottom line may well pay award rates and churn through drivers. It's not for me to say who is worth more, to be honest, though.

Busways 5000 on the 776 first time one has been reported in service other than 7012 the demonstrator. Oddly 1123 is on the 771 on what is normally a Glendenning working.

Funny how the TWU has now become more proactive over this when they were known for not being very active at all.

The RTBU member drivers in region 6 must of showed their TWU member workmates in regions 3 and 6 how to strike properly

They should be striking over unruly and abusive passengers and demand action be taken to try and track down regular offenders on the buses.

That's something I notice, too. The pitchforks and torches are produced quickly when money is involved, but ask about real issues like this or insufficient turnaround time ... crickets begin chirping.

Toward the end of the article is this:
Meanwhile, bus drivers will continue strike action from 5pm to 7pm on Friday, and for 24 hours in the Inner West and Southern region on Monday and Parramatta, Fairfield and Liverpool region on Tuesday.
Nothing on the TfNSW alert - https://transportnsw.info/news/2021/bus ... ial-action mentions the 24hr R6/R3 strikes. New information I suppose?

Agreed, undercover police taskforce going on buses to
enforce mask wearing, fare paying and civil obedience.
An asset of NSW. All opinions/comments are strictly my own.

They put much more emphasis on railways while buses fall through the cracks.

If so, their influence had had an impact alright. Looking very militant here.

That may not necessarily be so as in April next year the transferred artics will be operated by Transdev and I am sure they will have had some say in this as far as fleet acceptance is concerned.

Were at least two Metrobus livered Volvo B12BLEAs at Randwick this afternoon. Has been suggested more TSA artics will be released when the next batch of electrics are delivered, TSA not having any buses that will reach maximum age until 2023.

More prosaic than that, like there's little need for artics in Region 6 because of the spread of railway and tram lines through the region doing the heavy lifting.

I think it's more like TSA have a one size fits all mentality. 12m rigids can do anything and everything. They'd probably go for single leaf centre exit if it was permitted.

This current government aren't fans of articulated buses so the operator might need special permission from the government to use long buses

Busways 860 on the 794 very unusual to get any white buses on the weekends in Penrith never mind a Sunday

Also CDC BM 3715 and Busways 1295 are both Christmas buses.

If there was any attempt made to enforce mask wearing amongst teenagers wearing school uniforms on public transport in Sydney, the number of infringements issued would be eye watering.

It's unfortunate when they're the passengers who are most likely to be carrying the disease.

Another good cause for strike action. Refuse school runs for a day.
I have noticed crickets chirping here as well over abusive passengers like a taboo subject.

Regarding the EBA intending to cover both Region 3 & Region 6, I hear that one party put forward a FINAL proposal at the first of many meetings and then didn't take a back step.
