Preserved Leyland National in Sydney
Preserved Leyland National in Sydney
I'm curious if anybody knows anything about a preserved Leyland National in Sydney, in particular one referenced by these old posts from 2007:

In this post from 2009 it was referenced as being involved with Pittwater Motor Enthusiasts Club.

I believe the bus was owned by ATDB member bus2681 whose last post was in 2015.
Apart from that, the only preserved Leyland National I can find in Australia is at the Tasmanian Transport Museum:

Re: Preserved Leyland National in Sydney
I believe the owner has/had involvement with a number of other ex DGT-STA vehicles, and is/was associated with a model railway business in Frenchs Forest.
The registration displayed in the photograph expired in January 2018. The PMEC was probably the sponsor club for the registration.

Thanks Boronia I think you might be right, judging by this:

It would be interesting to see it in action.

^ Do appear to have an active eBay store though with 30+ feedback in the last month

Did you mean update on the shop or the Leyland National ?
The shop also has this web site and the bus features in it.

Update on the National. Deregistered in Jan 2018, then then in Feb 2019 it is being threatened with expulsion from its storage area. It still has its original registration plate, so seemingly has not been re-registered since.Glen wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 10:55 amDid you mean update on the shop or the Leyland National ?

Thanks for the info.
From what I have found in additional internet research it seems to be undergoing further restoration (earlier this year).

Not least it's engine. It sounded cactus when I heard it going in Dee Why several years ago. By far the most clapped out Leyland 510 I've ever heard. It was a very striking sight though.
By contrast here is a 1974 Super National mobile office recently restored and is in excellent mechanical condition.

NSW, the state that embraces mediocrity.
